will get pics tonight when i get home from school....also i had to remove the chain guard because of clearance issues..the front the chain guard will with the chain when you lower the back end that far....your options are either to remove it or trim out about 1" of chain guard on the transmission side

I was thinking that bracket is going to be dealing with a lot of force and weight. Are sure that your bracket job will hold up? Its kind of the wrong time to find out when youre doing 65 and the ace end falls out from under you.

I guess it's tried and tested but I feel more comfortable with my cut down springs than I would with the bracket.

$hit that's all that is? I thought it was a solid piece of 1.5" steel. I guess I'll make my own with a piece of angle, a chop saw, and a drill press.

some 3/16 1 and a half inch steel angle, half inch grade 8 bolts, a cut off wheel, drill, rosebud grinder, and the most importent tool a SHARPE. I don't think the brackets gooing to break as long as there is no flex and u keep it tight and theres not a hole lot of side load on it its more trying to push down and back. I don't have any fear of it breaking and iam 270lbs

I thought it would have been channel with a sleeve welded in to go over the old shock mount. That also would mean the bottom of the shock would have been supported on both sides.

I think you might actually be on to something though Ian. I like the channel idea better mainly for it's support on both sides. Just slip the shock between the channels and clamp her down. Honestly you don't need a sleeve welded in, just 2 holes. One on the inside big enough to slip over the old shock stud, and the outer one to clamp between the bolt and the stud. I like it.

I was thinking the sleve so you could tighten it down and not crush anything.

A sleeve to go into the shocks mount so you don't crush the shock's rubber. I see now, at first I was thinking the sleeve was going over the old mounting point which wouldn't crush anything. I'm seeing what you're seein now.

I did mean over the old shock mount so you couldn't push the sides of the channel together. The shock should have an insert. The sleeve wouldn't need to be welded in just figured it would be easier than having the extra loose part.

i couldn't find a spacer to fit right on the org shock mount i used a stack of washers iam going to get some spacers made later. if u use channle there won't be any support under it and the shock would just push it down

I was talking about using channel in the same position as the one pictured except it would have a piece behind the shock too.

Damien, any chance of a photo from ABOVE? looking at that earlier photo I assume the shock lower mount is pushed out about 3/4" ?

For clarification here... a channel is a U shaped piece of steel. The idea Ian has come up with is twice the strength and support than the angle. You're angle is under constant twist strain, unlike the channel design.

oh that sucks. I didn't even think about the other side. I thinking it would be nice to have a cutting torch, and a mig. Just cut the studs off the old position and weld them on a little further back. Repowdercoat, and away we go.

So...did Streetboogie ever have a problem with their set up? Ive never heard of it.
Your ideas all make sense and are good BUT you might just be overthinking/overengineering this.

Once I finish college and can afford toys again, I'll be going for new progressives, they are 100% better then stock and you can get them in any shape or style. Plus in my opinion (which may or may not be shared) is cheap mods look cheap, but that doesn't mean go out and spend thousands of dollars just to look good.

Cheap mods done cheaply I agree but I do my own inexpensive things that are done with care, like my oil pressure gauge that I really love but didn't cost much.

Now onto the front forks. I'd like to keep the bike level so I'd need to lower the front about an inch or two. So I haven't dug into the forks yet, but I'm hoping there's a spacer in there I can just remove or cut down. Is there one? My dirtbike has the spacers, but I didn't remove them, I need all the travel I can get with those.

There is but it isn't a good way to lower the bike. You lose the preload. I did it with Wendy's and ended up putting it back. There is a kit out there to lower the front the right way by changing the lower guts.

Im with blackbird, I'd rather ride on my cut springs than mess with some wierd bracketing to change the angle.
And thats another thing, youre changing the shock angle...Which means the force isnt being fully put on the exact top and bottom of the shock. The swingarm is pressing the shock more sideways instead of "end to end"
I wouldnt be surpised if the shock piston got kinked a bit with the right kind of bump.

I agree with cut springs Vs the lowering block, I've said that before. But that being said I would rather a shorter shock that has full travel over the cut springs.

Oh I'd definately prefer shorter shocks to cut ones...I was talking between "rigged pile A" & "rigged pile B"
