some 3/16 1 and a half inch steel angle, half inch grade 8 bolts, a cut off wheel, drill, rosebud grinder, and the most importent tool a SHARPE. I don't think the brackets gooing to break as long as there is no flex and u keep it tight and theres not a hole lot of side load on it its more trying to push down and back. I don't have any fear of it breaking and iam 270lbs
