I have been riding my recently purchased 07 America. When I'm on the highway doing 65-70 I find myself sorta wishing I had a 6th gear. Although I have no tach it seems to me the rpm's are a little on the high side. A friend of mine (also a triumph owner) told me he thought he read something once about changing out the front gear on these bikes to bring the rpm's down a bit at high speeds. Does anyone have any experience with this or any other information about this type of modification?

IIRC you should have an 18 tooth front gear. I believe you could bump it up to a 19 and drop the rpms a little. Pretty easy to do, but I don't remember where to tell you to get the gear.

Do a search for:
19T
front sprocket
Gearing commander
Those should get you to some recent discussion.

I moved up to a 19t and love it.
You can get gears at fasteddysports.com or newspeedmaster.com

You can also change the rear to a smaller sprocket. Your stock one should be a 42T. It's stamped into the sprocket.
