I am still trying to find a luggage rack for my 2005 speedy that will follow the curve of the fender like the triumph rack. The triumph luggage rack wouldn't fit with the solo seat chrome rail.I know I have seen photos on this site of the seat rail with the luggage rack. I need the brand, part number and source to order it. any help??

if your talking about the solo seat luggage rack then you want one that fits a Sportster.... least that's how I understand it. Hoping that's the case as well as I just bought one off of Ebay for 40 bucks. Just punch "sportster rack" into the search feature at Ebay and they will prove abundant. Oh, dont get the Motherwell brand as the rear mounting point would be at the middle of the fender as opposed to where the pillion bolt goes. Finally, there is a picture of the sportster rack and Triumph seat rail mounted together on one of our fine members ride. Looked at it just the other day but for the life of me can't remember who's bike it was.

ODR,
If you are talking about the curved chrome seat rail and the curved rear fender rack, the Triumph ones will fit. I’ve had that set up on my bike for about 2 years and it works and looks really good. Put the rear rack on first and then the seat rail and it will fit. There’s a shot in my photo gallery (see Fred)

Hi Fred, Triumph must have changed something on the Speedmaster in 2005. The dealer tried to install the Triumph luggage rack and the seat rail while I watched him, and it wouldn't work without cutting a notch in the luggage rack front mounting bracket.

ODR,
I don't know if this is what your dealer ran into or not, but the luggage rack doesn't fit into the slot on the slotted mounting bolt for the front seat like the pillion seat does. The front mount of the rack lays on top of the seat mount and then you bolt them both down. I know the seats are different on the SM vs the TA, but the layout of the bolt holes should be the same.

I have a America and my son has a SM. I use the Sportster fender rack and he uses the Triumph fender rack. We installed them fender rack first, seat second and seat rail on top. There is a slight difference in the radius of the curve at the back of the seat rail. His rail is a very tight fit on my sporster rack and mine fits perfect. Both Triumph seat rails work well with the Triumph fender rack.

I'm sure each time I've taken my seat off, I've installed the seat, seat rail and luggage rack a different way each time!! Still fits, however stoopid I am!

I'm thinking about installing a luggage rack and I'd like one that is pretty snug to the fender. Which of yours, Triumph or Sportster, is closest to the bike?
Thanks,
Chris

The Sportster rack is much closer. Check the classifieds back in mid Nov. Member Vintage6T had a couple for sale.
