Wow Moe!!! I had NO idea you we're pullin' in all THAT kind'a money!!! GOOD GOIN', dude! Yep, my wife and I will actually receive a pretty healthy REFUND from "that chitown dude" this year(though that 'ahl' from Austria up north o' here will want some of it, of course)....sooooooo, I can ONLY assume(which yes I know is ALWAYS a dangerous thing to do) that YOU must be WAY UP THERE in that upper tax bracket along with some o' them there AIG folks, HUH?!
(in other words...ehh...I THINK you know what I REALLY MEAN here RIGHT, Mr. Moderator?!...but YEAH, I REALLY AM sorry to hear about THE PART where your satellite service rates are goin' up dude...Yep, I MEAN it, I REALLY AM!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Directv....must think they have the market cornered. As soon as they notified me of the rate increase I reduced my subscription package. (cut HBO as the only reason we had it was so my wife could watch that idjit bill maher)and went with a cheaper basic package.
When I get out of this freakin rehab hospital I intend to look at that other satellite outfit....Dish Network.

Dish Network raised their rates on some of their upgraded, higher packges but rates stayed the same for basic subscribers. Pretty happy with Dish for the most part. I could tell you a story about DirectTV but it would be one Heli of a long writeup.

I just got my bill and noticed about a $3 increase as well... but I won't cancel over $3. It's the first rate increase after many years.
I wonder what ever happened to the pay-per-channel movement that was being considered a while ago? I upgraded my service from basic to the next level to get the Science channel and a few others about 2 years ago. The bulk of that upgrade seems to include Spanish channels (I'm American) light-in-the-loafers channels (won't even comment on that here) a ton of home shopping channels (I use the internet for that) and a few extra espn's and obscure sports channels (watching people fish and hunt ducks and play poker? You need a hobby of your own..)...
If they ever make it a reality to pay only for what you want, I could prune it down to maybe 10-12 channels. My bill would probably be less than $20!

I'm with ya there , I watch History, Discovery, Learning, TBS , TNT, Sci Fi , FX. AMC , TCM. and Discovery Health. In addition to those I watch a couple shows on Fox and CW. That is pretty much all I would need and not miss anything I much care about. 99% of the time (like now) it's just on for noise.
