Might want to get some different risers too to bring them back toward you if you feel you are reaching for them.Plus you could raise or lower them too if you want that aspect changed too.

Personally, my hands are much more comfortable with thicker grips. I've ridden some sport bikes, and my hands cramp up quickly... Maybe it's a geometry thing more than a diameter thing?

Here's a trick - get a friend to hold your bike up straddling the front wheel while you sit like you are riding . Put your arms up where they are most comfy - with your eyes closed . Now open them and take note where you want the grips to be . There's 100 different combo's .

Has anyone changed the stock handlebars and been able to use the stock cables and wires on another handlebar?? I'm looking around now for a new handlebar that is not so wide and pulled back a little longer as I'm short person

i just sent them an email regarding the buckhorns , my concern is weather the cables and wires will stretch enough to allow the bars to tilt back.... any thoughts, the picture of them shows them straight up.

Sandie - if anything , narrower bars in a pullback configuration should shorten the cable reach . The slack can loop up some , but you don't want it looping up TOO high , gets in your field of vision and looks funky . If ya hafta have shorter cables , there's lots of 'em out there . Oh , I forgot - some buckhorns are so angled they make your wrists splay out in an uncomfortable position . The grips should be no more than about 10 degrees from being perpendicular to the long axis of your arm .

You can do much better than Newspeedmaster when looking for many parts. Good quality and priced cheaper. Handlebars are a very easy part to find since our bikes take a standard 1" bar. Check Ebay for one and just about anywhere that you can get HD parts.

I want to shorten mine too. I figured I could cut off about 1 1/4" per side before getting onto the bend. How much does your guy think he can take off.

You can do much better than that for risers. Look on Ebay you can get them for $25 to about $50 depending on style. If you use HD risers stay away from Deuce risers, they have a lip on the bottom. You could always grind it off and they would be fine, just so you know ahead of time. Then get a set of adapters from Scootworks.

would I have to drill 1/2" holes in the clamp for the risers , most all risers are 1/2", the triumph stud is 10 milemeter.

They sell Deuce style risers on ebay without the lip. I have a pair on my Speedmaster with the stock bars and stock cables. They sell adapters for the bolt holes, but I just drilled mine.

Scoot works sells the adapters to go from the 1/2" riser to the 10mm tree holes for $17 or $18 for the pair.

just wanted to thank all of you for the info. We spent time at the Arizona Bike week test riding many bikes... then, I realized that the Sportster handle bars felt really good to me so we pick them up and WOW, what a difference, I'm in love with my bike....................no need to change seat or anything else.........thanks again.
