This thread hasn't been shut down yet, so I guess it's time to post my .02...
A while back I replied to a thread about passing a group ride, stating that passing or cutting into the wrong group could get you your ****** handed to you. The comments that followed indicated that I was somehow living in the past - that stuff doesn't happen anymore. Well, as the Dog mentioned in his comment here, it does still happen, you just don't hear about it as much....
Case in point - it was in the news about 2 weeks ago - a small group of people went into a bar about 9 miles from where I live, on a road I travel quite often. The bar used to be a country-western place. They went in and found it was now a hangout for "bikers" - particularly a certain group - and from what the news report said, an argument started over "country music". The group made their way out to the parking lot to leave only to be told they weren't going anywhere. One of them got in his vehicle, several shots were fired, and he made it a short way down the road before crashing - and then dying from a gunshot wound. Four of these "no bullshooting" citizens, one of them an ex-Pgh cop, were arrested. All were wearing their colors. The victim was in his 30's, so he didn't know what the 60's were like. I imagine he didn't have any idea who he was dealing with either. Because this stuff just doesn't happen anymore...
Another case in point.
A young guy who worked in the shop for me about 5 years ago got married to a wacko woman with a wacko family who made his life ******. He was a good guy but not the brightest bulb on the xmas tree. He ended up spending a few nights in jail after she locked him out of "HIS" house and filed a restaining order against him. He ended up quitting our place and got a job with a local borough. Last year it was learned that he was back in jail again. Seems he had become a Chapter Leader of the same "non-bullshooter" social group mentioned above and they had a problem with a sport bike rider who had dared enter their favorite watering hole. They clubbed the crap out of him and put him in the hospital....
It's a good thing that stuff doesn't happen anymore.
