I'm planning a trip to Lancaster county, Pennsylvania this coming May/June. Does anyone know of any "RAT" rides happening around this time that I could plan my trip around. I'm hoping to avoid the cities and enjoy winding countryside.

Some of the best motorcycle, riding can be found while winding through the mountains and along the natural sweeping curves of streams and rivers. Pocohanne, an Indian word meaning "A stream between mountains", this was the inspiration behind the name Pocono. In 2006 the Riders Association of Triumph will be blasting through the mountains and valleys of the Pocono
Mountain region. The raid will be based out of the Pocono Manor. Known as the "Grand Lady of the Mountains" to locals, this Inn has been around since 1902, just like our favorite motorcycles! Located within reach of some incredible destinations such as Hawks Nest in Port Jervis, the Pocono International Raceway, and Bushkill Falls – the Niagara falls of Pennsylvania, and the only thing better than the destinations are the roads to get there! Some amenities of the Manor include golf, horseback riding, fishing, sporting clays, bocce, indoor tennis, and spa. For lodging call the Manor at 800.233.8150 (www.poconomanor.com). This weekend is a catered function and space is limited. Guarantee your spot by pre-registering in advance with RAT. To pre-register with RAT for this event, download the flyer from ( www.TriumphMotorcycles.com) or send an email to (ratamerica@triumphmotorcyles.com) and request a flyer for this particular weekend.

The Triumph Come Home rally is in nearby Hanover PA is June 9th to the 11th. In the past, this event has had good attendance from BonnevilleAmerica.com members. I've yet to go since in the past, it's fallen on my wedding anniversary. This year it is a week before! Ye-ha, see you there. Triumph Come Home Rally

I think the Pocono ride is the only one... but keep us posted on Date and times. I'm sure a bunch of us could meet you for lunch along the way or something, maybe ride a few miles with you.

FYI the Pocono raid date got changed... Looks like they found out it conflicted with the thunder in the valley. Here's what Matt the RAT has to say... Quote:
Ok, So it looks like Ill be making yet ANOTHER change to an event date.
The Pocono Raid will be July 7-9 2006.
The reason for the change is that the original date conflicted with the Thunder in the Valley event in Johnstown, PA.
For those of you who have made reservations for this event the Pocono Manor has moved your rooms to the new date.
Thanks very much,
Benny

Hey Ronnie, I live just a few miles from Lancaster in Hershey, we should hook up and ride. I also hear that there are some gatherings in the Ephrata area on occasion which is near Lancaster but havent found anything out about them as yet.

Hi all,
I ride down from Ottawa, Canada to the Triumph Come Home Rally near Lancaster PA most years. They have a show and shine with many categories which is free to enter. One year I won best modern classic for my '99 T'bird. I am planning some winter mods to the Speedmaster, so I hope to have the Speedmaster for the 2006 trip. Check out the Triumph Come Home website for details. They have usually have a bunch of neat old british iron, a decent banquet with various awards and a ride out or two. Good people and great biking roads in PA. It's always my favourite trip of the year despite the traditional downpours.

Chris have you spoken to Bill on this site? He's up in Ottawa as well and then there is Royal in Quebec. Both might be interested in joining you for that.
Also Bill is coming down here and will be riding to Georgia for the BA.com rally there with me. Royal rode down last year and I hope to see him again this year. You are more than welcome to join us.

Hi Wojo,
Thanks for your message. I don't know either Bill or Royal, but I would like to hook up with them. I generally ride alone, but I've done the trip to Triumph Come Home a few times now (and never on an air-cooled twin!) so it might be a nice change to have some company.
Thanks for the invite to the BA.com rally in Georgia. Where can I get some info on this ride?
Cheers,
Chris

Well now. This is shaping up to be a good spring/early summer... - First I'm going to hit Georgia May 4-7
- Then I'm going to extend that with a run through Alabama and Tenessee up Hiway 61 to St. Louis. Maybe get back to Ottawa May 15 or so.
- Then there's Americade June 5-8 in Lake George (I'd blush but I go with friends and it's fun)
- Now there's Triumph come home June 9-11 in Lancaster PA.
Sounds good to me!

Also, and I'm not making this up, I have pinned to the bulletin board above my computer an advertisement from a hang gliding school in New York State more or less on a line from Lake George to Lancaster. I've been looking for how that would fit into my summer and now I know! Chris, if I'm still in one piece, we could hook up for the ride home from PA.

Nice riding around that area where the gliding school is. You could hit the Hawk's Nest...

Hey Chris, as you can see Bill has already posted to your question. Royal I believe shows up here quite a bit but doesn't post much. I don't think either of them would mind a PM if you are thinking of getting together. Here's a link to some info for the Georgia '06 rally. The area is amazing and the people that you'll meet from this site are fantastic. As it gets closer Chy, I sure, will start an official thread on it.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your reply. It would be good to get together with another America/Speedmaster owner in Ottawa, and let's try to coordinate around the Triumph Come Home thing. I am guessing you either got rich in the Ottawa dot.com boom, or you're retired given your summer riding plans. Either way - nice life ;^).
I'm out of the country a lot and don't have much control over my schedule but I try and get out to a few events each year. I'm heading out to S. America this evening. I should be back in Feb - would you be interested in getting together for a beer or something and discuss ride logistics?
Cheers
Chris

Hey Bill,
I'm not sure if you have the America or a Speedy. If you have an America would you be interested in swapping for my Speedy wheels and twin discs? No money needs to change hands. Let me know.

Great, John. I have replied to Bill and will look up Royal. If I can it would be great to hook up for the Georgia Rally, althought its a bit of a long shot. Thanks for the link.
Cheers,
Chris

Ronnie, I was just browsing around and came across a link you might find interesting. Never did it myself, I live in southern PA, but spoke with people that have. They all said it's some quality riding. Kerby PA great outdoors
