The insurance is a good question. I bought a Davida about 5 years ago, and at the time did a bit of searching comparng the DOT & European standards. The best I could tell the ECE R22-05 rating system was more rigorous than DOT and therefore a better helmet?? Why they didn't also carry the DOT sticker seemed odd. Davida now has helmets that carry both stickers.
