Placing the rubbers on manifolds first, with the stock airbox in place, fitting the carbs back on the manifold rubbers is tight, no doubt about it. They have very little clearance but will align so you can coerce them into place. Make sure that you remove the snorkel (like you are going to replace the air filter) so the airbox slides back as far it can.
