I know I've seen at least one pic and I think I've heard of a few more people who've turned an oil tank into a battery box.

Anyone here done it? Feel like giving some pointers?

If you look around there are some already done. Not sure if it was on Ebay or where but I know there is at least 1 company making a round one that looks like an oil tank but is a battery box already.

I've looked around on E-bay and no luck. I know there was a company making them a while back, maybe street boogie? Whoever it was, I think they're gone.

Doesn't LarkFarms have a fake oil bag/battery box (or maybe he has pictures of one)?

None of those look like the one I was thinking of but the one Skid posted comes close. The one I remember was spun aluminum with rounded ends and the battery didn't stick out the back of the tank as much.

Thanks all.

Yeah Dog, that's the one I'm thinking of too.

Here's a pick of what I'm looking for

Actually that bike was from PJ's here locally, and that oil tank was basically the one I posted off of ebay that they modified to hold the rest of the electronics.... it still has the battery tray to the rear/cut partially out of the tank..... They did a great job on that bike!

I know I saw a spun aluminum one with rounded ends and a raised oil cap off one side at an angle and the battery didn't stick out as far. I can't remember who I saw selling it but I know they were making them and would do them to order.

There was a post around here somewhere that spoke of an oilbag that not only held the battery and electrical components, but also hid wiring in faux 'oil lines' for a clean appearance.

Does anyone have pics or more information about this?

TX, that sounds about perfect.

Dog, First off, where is that second tank from? That would look sweet with the cooking fins.

Man, if I could remember who was selling them, I'd buy one in a heart beat.

My speedy has been in pieces for 18 months with other projects and $$ slowing things down. The plan is to get her on the road by the end of April. Hasn't been a hurry as my main ride is a tiger, but really want to get her on the road.

Here are some picks of the paint job (Currently the tins are sitting on my bar) and my wheels. She should be pretty sweet.

ANyway, if anybody can remember who was doing those tanks, or let me know where that finned one came from. That is SICK!

You aren't kidding big bucks! I can't believe anyone would spend that kind of cash on any oil tank. Maybe if it was real gold or something. They must sell a couple parts a year to Jay Leno and that's enough to keep them a float.

They have the right name for their business since if you bought one you just got robbed.

heh Jimmy nice paint, I love that kinda artwork

Keep an eye out for the chain clearance under the oil tank. I remember reading a thread on here about a guy having to cut a relief on the underside because when the suspension flexed down the chain rubbed the oil tank. I think "larkfarms" had the same problem when he tried using a mini keg for a battery tray.

You dont wanna get that thing all finished up and then have to rip it apart later. (especially if the tanks gonna be painted)

Yeah the tank is going to be painted. Triumph surrounded by more of the same style art (my best friend is a tattoo artist, he did the design based on tattoos he did for me years ago. The painter is a great guy and a stupid fast racer. Good bloke with a couple of sick Ducati 748s).

I e-mailed PJs, they made the tank on the bike in the picture I posted. Their going to give me a quote.

The thing is, I don't even know what qualities I'd want in the box. I'm trying to figure out how it should open to get to the electronics.
