Never understood why anyone would go to all the trouble of buying a motorcycle to get out into the elements and then fit a windshield to get protection from the elements. Ugly too.

It was no trouble buying a motorcycle, in fact, it was and has been a blast!!
I think it might be called multi-dimensional interests; a) sometimes I enjoy riding w/o windshield, b) sometimes I enjoy working on and driving cars, c) sometimes I motorcycling w/windshield, etc.
I don't think I could stand having the philosophy of "I only ride with out a windshield and those who do not agree with me should ride a car?" But you are right, to each his own.
