That's a good point. Also, the better dealers of helmets can also add/remove padding and liners to get a better fit. If they don't have one in your size and won't be getting one or ordering one, then it's a different story.

Now I get it. No I'm not going somewhere else, this was the dealer I bought my first HJC helmet from. I always have to special order the helmet I want because they rarely carry XXXL and they never carry silver, my preferred color. They're a locally owned shop so I prefer giving them my business anyway.

I agree. I usually buy stuff I try on like that, I have a hard time saying now:) It will only be as a last resort for design or fit that I go back to the internet.

Do they charge more for huge helmets over the regular sizes? You know, like when you buy an oversized coat or t-shirt?

Hey Matt, not that I am aware of, but hey, never know these days! I think they get you with graphics and features when it comes to helmets.

Hey Friar, went to a bike shop yesterday that I thought carried Shoei (sp?) aparently they just stopped carrying them. They have Icon, Fulmer, HJC and KBC. The only 3X they has was an HJC (basically the newest version of my helmet) and it was literally the only one I could get ON my head and it was too tight front to back. Almost sloppy side ot side. So I think if I can find a shop that carries Arai or Shoei I can find a 2X oval that might fit me better. You should a seen the guy's face when I asked if they had any other 3X helmets:) Literally looked at me like I was joking. I don't think he knew they existed.

Do you remember if that HJC was a CL-12? That's what I'm currently running in 3XL. It was snug when I got it but after three seasons it's a bit sloppy. I've tried on some 3/4 and 1/2 helmets in 2XL and they seem to fit okay, but I wanted the full face helmet.

Keep up the search, you'll find something eventually.

Not sure, but I think that is what I have now....

Tried on a few Arai's and Shoei's today. They had a mish mosh of sizes, so i'm still fairly unsure of the whole thing. They had TWO arai signets on sale 20%off with the union jack flag waving on the side!! Too mad I'm not a MEDIUM!!!
