I've noticed a few times that if I don't fully raise the stand with my foot, it will hang several inches below the frame. Apparently, the spring isn't as strong as it needs to be in order to complete the job. I wonder if in your case the spring is allowing the stand to fall down a little when you corner. You could test that by tying the stand in the fully retracted position for a test ride.
