Called two dealers today who said they are not sure where the T-Bird will be built.
I am not sure. I have seen Rockets with J and T in the VIN here. All America, Speedy, Bonneville, have a T.
Is Triumph making all bikes for the U.S. market in Thailand or selected bikes?
Before you start a Thailand fight, this is a question not a challenge so if you wish to discuss the merits of a Thai bike this is not the thread to do it in.

I didn't know the R3s were being made in Thailand too. What about some of the other Triumphs?

Well, Kevin that is my question. In Boerne Texas dealership they have a Rocket with a T in the VIN. The owner there, last year said the 2nd plant in Thailand was built to expand production and build motors. He now says he has no idea where the T-Bird will come from but wants me to order it.
I dunno. I think the 675 is made exclusively in England. So am wondering as in my original post where they will make the T-bird.

Ron, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the T-Bird will be made in....FRANCE!!!!
Sorry...no actually I think I read somewhere that it'll be assembled in Thailand also.
(...that of course is until the raising cost of labor THERE will "force" Mr.Bloor to open up a THIRD factory in BANGLADESH!!!)

Here's the serial number from the blue bike at Daytona, complete with T and J in the number...the J being in the 11th slot.

Thanks, maybe they will make the first years bikes in England.
I guess I will have to wait for them on the showroom floors. Dealers don't seem to know.

Speaking of Thailand, has the on going political unrest had any effect on Triumph production.Or made Mr.B consider a plant eslewhere (except Bangladesh).

Amazing. The bike hasn't rolled off the factory floor and the Thai debate begins.

Good point, James! Maybe we should wait and see, huh?! And so, while we're all waitin' to find out if some of us around here will maybe be turned off if the T-Bird is made in you-know-where, what say we all pass the time by singin' an old ditty I "think" just might be a bit appro pro here...."THAI a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree"!!! (it's been three long years...will ya still love me...err, I mean, will ya STILL love the T-BIRD, anyway!)

Of course the T-Bird will be made/assembled in Thailand. If it was made at Hinckley, it would be called a J-Bird...

Yeah Barry! And EVEN THOUGH it's named after a bird, it won't be built in Turkey EITHER!!!!
(...even though I keep gettin' the feeling that Jackson down in Texas would think it should be built there!...what WAS that last one of "Mr. Sunshine"'s I read today?...oh yeah..."I hope this bike doesn't sink Triumph!", or SOMETHIN' to that affect anyway???!!!)

I remember in 07 they talked about 50,000! bikes. Anybody seen the 2008 Triumph production numbers?
Thunderbird will sell just fine. Its a good looking bike.
It just won't be in my garage. I was going to pre-order until nobody seemed to know where they were made.

Thunderbird will sell just fine. Its a good looking bike. I predict it will outsell the R3 in Europe at least.
