I've been here for a couple of years now, and I can't recall ever seeing anyone from France posting here. Is it possible that the long standing ill will between Frenchies and Brits inhibits interest of sales of BAs and SMs across the channel? Just curious. (And I'd probably be up for some good natured teasing/bashing if I thought I could get away with it!)

Being of French lineage myself (Cajun), I can say this....screw the French!

Curious... we have members from all over the world and I also don't think I've ever seen anyone from France.

For the life of me, I cannot picture any frogs riding our bikes with a french poodle purched on the tank or pillion pad.

Can however see them on a leverda, or the like.

It may surprise you, but I saw several Americas (3 or 4) in France recently and many more Speed Triples (not surpising as they seem to love street-fighter type bikes).

I do remember at least one Frenchman member but his name escapes me. He had even posted some pics from a rally in france and posted others from Normandy.

Maybe he ran into some trouble and joined the Foreign Legion.

Lord, I do confess to being a little onery, but I had no idea this would go this way. Still, i gotta laugh. And by the way, the french helped us in the rev. war to twist the "lions' tail, not cause they loved and admired us so much. And then only after Franklin and others pleaded and begged for months, if not years.

One of my wife's best friends father served in the French resistance during WWII. During his memorial three years ago I learned that he served in the French Army and the Polish Army.

During the entire occupation period right up the day 'dolph died, he was a wanted man. You see he was fluent in seven languages and set up clandestine radio stations all through Europe where he would transmit Nazi activities to the Allied forces as well as other resistance fighters.
He was so successful that the Nazi high command put a price on his head.

I knew him for the last 15 years of his life, and it's almost stereotypical. He was a modest man who "just did what I had to". Yeah, right, went to Poland in the winter of '39 and lived and fought underground for six years.
His wife didn't even know everything that we all learned after his death. She is from the Old Country too.

Oh yeah, Anton stood all of 5'4" and probably weighed 120lbs.
I wonder if anyone here is half the man he was.

Nope, I think most of us were bigger than that!

Didn't mean the resistance that didn't just consist of French but many others too. I meant the French military who smelled gunpowder from Belgum and threw their guns down and hands up! mean while the brave men fighting back at the all so effective Maginot Line were busy reading books! Kidding, just that the Maginot line was ineffective since it got flanked and never really came into play.

I heard that the nazis put the guns to considerable use after they knocked down the bunkers and turned them around.

After reading all the anti French comments, it's hardly suprising that any French America or speedmaster owners would want to contribute on here.

Well John, I know I'M personally "somewhat shocked" that this baby seems to have taken on a rather "Francophobic" bent here! ESPECIALLY with THIS group o' folks 'round HERE!!!

(and THAT reminds me....Have any of you folks heard if that Franco dude IS STILL DEAD???...it's been YEARS since I've heard anything about his latest condition on the "Weekend Update"!!!)

I am on a French tour with a couple of pals Champagne, Burgundy and Loire in June. Have a place over there too! I can promise you they love the Triumph brand (in particular Street Triple) and they love motorbikes generally. We will be riding 2 Americas and 1 Tunderbird and I am sure we will get a possitive reaction.
I know they are not the bravest nation in the world but they do have great wine, food and wonderful art. Moreover their roads are fantastic (Paris excluded) and the people I have met have been terrific (Paris excluded).
In summary I love it over there!

I remember he was also "greeted" by being told how much his country's politics were not liked.
Not very welcoming.

Other than a cool bike, with a name like "ratfrog" the guy also had a healthy sense of humor.

Nah, Rich. Whenever I call folks "knuckheads", I mean to convey NO respect to 'em AT ALL! Like say a certain older bikers who very recently tried to pass me and eddy in my truck on a blind lefthand mountain turn and ended up crashing his beautiful old Pan/Shovel chopper right in front of us! Now THAT'S a friggin' "knuckhead"!!!!

(BUT, whenever I call folks "knuckLEheads", I ALWAYS mean to convey the UTMOST respect to 'em, be they a member of the opposite sex or EVEN say...FRENCH!!!)

On a more serious note: Odd that the inhabitants of a North American country hell bent on emulating France should be so critical of it.

WOW, nice bike. How could anybody not want the owner of that to participate here just because of his nationality? Boggles the mind.

(Disclaimer: I'm a quarter French [Um, DUH! Hello! Bedard! Eh!] by way of Canada, so, like, suck it!)

France is expected to announce today, that they are returning to NATO. I wonder if that means they expect to be invaded.
