Don does great work. I just installed the pipes he did for me and they sound great. Louder than TORs but not overly loud. No re-jets needed. My bike seems to actually run better with them than it did with the TORs. Great service too.

Chevy and Pharmboy,
Would you mind uploading a picture of the pipes or do they not look any different than stock? Also, how about a sound clip?

Don can send you a link for a sound clip. They are the same pipes as your stock. Don just pulls out all the baffles and such. He can explain it better than I but he modifies your stock pipes so they look the same on the outside. What I found about Don is that he does a great job in not only modifying them but he cleans them up, fixes any wear and tear on them. Mine were from my 2005 and had a few scrapes and needed a touch up weld here and there and they came back with all the fixes needed. If you want something a bit louder (deeper) than TORs and better than stock, you will be happy with Don's work.

I just purchased and installed these pipes, then I went down to the Triumph dealer were I bought my America had him listen to my bike and he said that it had the best sound he had heard on a Triumph! I'm real happy I chose to get these pipes for my bike.

Here is a sound byte link to the custom pipes. They sound deeper and more throaty than factory TORs. Click on: http://bonnevilleamerica.com/audio_video/dmahn.wav

Not true, you really should rejet. Your pipes are now less restrictive remember many time a lean engine will run great right up until that valve burns.

How can you tell when you get the re-jet right? Is there some sort of pressure balance test that has to be done? I still run the stock air filter in, AI removed.

with stock air filter you will probably still be lean due to the less restrictive exhaust but not as bad as if the air box were removed or modified. Read the plugs to get it close then the dyno is the best way to get it right.

Just installed my set of modded pipes from Don (chevy605) and they sound awesome!!! Well, at least revin' it in the driveway, can't ride tonight, babysitting. Job took all of about a hour, but that also includes a chain clean/adjust/lube. Well worth the price. Jim F

Just got mine back and refitted tonight. They look and sound great, thanks for the great job Don.
Too bad that it's rained here for 8 days straight, I'll have to wait for a clear day to see how they ride. Thruxton needles and a rejet next job on the list.

Had a clear day today so took it for a ride, it felt great on the butt dyno but as I haven't ridden it in 3 weeks I suppose that's to be expected. The sound is truly amazing though, not obnoxiously loud but a really nice deep rumble at idle that roars at higher revs.
I stopped at the dealer on the way home and right now it's getting the Thruxton needles swapped in, AI removed and the rejet done.
I used Pat's jet calculator and reckoned a 132 main with a 42 pilot looked about right but the service guy at the dealer thought that would be way too big for the main. He also told me stock pilots were 40's, I thought they were 42's so he'll bump those up one size if they need it too.
I'll post the final results here when I get the bike back in a week or so.

Finally got the bike back today, a week of snow and ice delayed the test ride by the dealer but I also decided to fit the kawi vacuum valve springs after they'd finished 80% of the work (customers always right though, eh?) and were waiting to take it out so they had to do a little rework.
Better late than never though cos it rides plus sounds incredible and must admit I scared myself silly a few times testing out the new setup despite the rain (no snow/ice this week at least).
Thanks again Don for the great job.
For anyone interested in the setup, I was surprised to find that they didn't need to increase the main jets at all. The dealer said that the SM+AM's actually come out the factory tuned a little rich (which contradicts almost everything I've read on these and the other forums but what do I know, he did say the new Bonnies are lean out of the box though) and that by swapping in the Thruxton needles and shimming that was enough to compensate for the mods to the pipes and the belmouth/K&N.
Anyway, 10/10 to Don. I recommend his work to anyone

What did you do for shipping cross border any hassles to and fro? I have extra set of pipes for the speedmaster which we were going to baffle-extomize this spring but for $100 I'll let a pro do it. The clip sounds great.

I shipped it down to Don using Canada Post, $50 cdn with insurance. No hassles other than it took 2 weeks to get there. I could have crossed the border myself and shipped it from the States and saved half the shipping cost and a week in time but was busy that week.
For the return, I got them shipped to a receiving agent just across the border. They charged me $3 to receive the parcel, the Canadian border agents didn't charge me any duty or taxes even though I was completely honest about what I was doing and why. Saved a week in waiting time and a little bit of cash, maybe $30-50.
I have a feeling that as Don ships back using USPS and not a courier like UPS, etc that there won't be any issues with duty or taxes if you get them shipped directly back to Canada. The main problem with cross border couriers isn't the duty / taxes but the brokerage fee that the courier themselves charge to bring it through customs.
