With the stock airbox and filter the Triumph off-road mufflers are pretty quiet.

Many people here don't use the Triumph off-road pipes coz they're too quiet, from what you say it sounds like just what you're looking for though. They sound a bit more like a bike instead of like George Jetson's flying car without being obnoxiously loud.

Short TORs, Loud enough to be heard. Nice sound accelerating out of corners. Not to hard on the neighbours(none of mine have complained yet anyway). Nor do they attact unwanted attention from the UKs finest.

The problem with the TORS is there's no low-end tone whatsoever. They don't wake up until the motor hits the higher RPM ranges.

I'd tend to agree with you on that Jack, but the police this side of the pond tend to be a bit less tolerant on noise level.

I have factory short TORs and K&Ns, like the freak kit. There's a little rumble down low but when I roll on the throttle hard, they do roar a bit. Still nothing like the aftermarket pipes. I like the sound but after 7 years I'm looking for something else. Gonna try D&Ds but will probably get a set of Specialty Spares like Zmilin. Those are some sweet pipes.

Ok Paul no need to shout. I.M.O. the short TORs look the part, and they are as I said, loud enough to be heard. I honestly don't know if there is any differance in sound between long or short. They are stamped "for off road use only" but to see this when they are on the bike, you will have to lie on your back with your head directly under the pipes at just the right place.

These are the Trident exhaust pipes for the America/Speedmaster. JesterMinute just installed them and posted sound clips in the other Trident thread.

A punctuation mark here, and there, would be nice too! I am going for the Tridents. Based on what I have read they can be slightly louder than the short TORs which I have now, or as loud as the SS or BUBs. Wasn't there a thread that had loudness in order? THAT SHOULD BE A STICKY!

I have the short TORS fitted to my '08 EFI America. Love the sound, however they do crackle and pop on the overrun, and sometimes backfire..is this the Norm?? The dealer says he remapped the engine to suit. Should I expect the backfiring??
Think what you say .....before you say what you think!!! If in doubt...say nowt!!

Mostly etiquette, but regular "sentence case" is easier to read.

Those Tridents sure look and sound good. I like the square cut on my Cannons, but with the stainless Tridents, you could do that to them as well. Anyone have a close-up of the welds?

I also have them on my 09 and like the sound. My dealer said the fuel injected bikes don't pop so much but mine do. I quite like it though.

+1 on the crackle and pop. I have the factory tapered TORs, which are staight-thru glasspacks, on my '09 BA and they sound great with stock map. Nice Rumble-Grumble on decel, and throaty on accel, but no earplugs required, and no blue pipes. I like 'em.

I got the TORs short slash cuts. They always seemed a little to quite so I took them off one day.Looked in the front of the muffler. The factory has a restrictor that is like a freeze plug with a hole drilled in it.I took a porting tool and reemed out the plug to make the hole as big as the edge fo the the plug. This did give it a little more sound and it is still quite enough at an idle. They sound good in the upper rpms.

I fitted the long TORS to my '08 EFI America. The dealer said no mapping was required, but they crackle and pop on the overrun, and sometimes backfired. So I got him to remap last week and they are running fine, no popping or backfiring. Sound great.
