Saw that earlier. The guy is nuts doing that speed with his kid (or anyone else) on the back - it was wet too!
I've done 150+ on my own and would never consider doing that with a pillion.
I want to go fast, that's what I like about having a bike but I don't do it risking someone else's neck.
Sorry Dave, lock him up I say.

I think that was posted here before. Endangering a child - Yeah, I say 6 months is fair.

We all have to take responsability for our actions as an adult we have choices. Kids on the other hand place their trust in us, to place his own son in such danger shows a complete disregard for his sons welfare. Would he have put a loaded gun in sons hand and left him alone to play with it.
I have no sypmathy for this idiot. If it stops one biker placing his child in such danger then six months is well deserved. Mind you none of the bikers I know have shown the slightest sympathy for him every body has roundly condemned his actions.
When riding 2 up I always lower the speed and switch to a higher sense of awareness. You have to be aware of what your passenger is doing and how they react to the bike.
Just glad it did not go horribly wrong speeding up un the wet goes against everything you learn about riding.

If anyone thinks this penalty is too stiff, consider what it would've been had he wrecked and killed the kid...

Nor would I FT. It is madness, maybe thought he'd impress the son or something? Who knows... Not condoning it at all but was surprised at the prison term. Thought they were generally givin out more lenient sentences these days to free up the prisons...

If that had happened he should have had the book thrown at him and agree if he rides like that with pillion even occasionally he's an idiot. You don't often hear of prison for speeding here tho when no one's been injured, no alcohol involved or any damage caused

I must say that yep he wasn't exactly thinking right at the time but when you consider some of the things that people have NOT been locked up for then this does seem a bit excessive.
Has he abused or beaten the kid up? I'm sure that the kid had a whale of a time on the back and was bragging about it to his mates at school.
Losing his licence is penalty enough me thinks because of the effect it will have on him and as a taxpayers we won't have to fork out for him behind bars.
I would say leave jail sentences to people who are a menace to society and make people who do stupid things pay for it in other ways.

Riding a Harley for the rest of your life is an unconstitutional punishment as it is cruel and unusually dumb...

Actually, I think THAT'S a GREAT IDEA!!! THAT certainly would be a "just sentence" alright!!!
Yeah! And ALSO have some sort of "warning stickers" places all over the gastank of those big ol' Harleys which will always remind these folks to be more "attentive" in the future whenever they're out ridin' on 'em!!!
Yeah! Perhaps some kind'a stickers which MIGHT read somethin' like:
"Never ride faster than conditions allow!"
Or...maybe EVEN:
"Be sure to replace gas cap after refueling!"

(what do ya think FT???...somethin' along THOSE lines maybe too, HUH?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

1) Hes an idiot flat out. 2) He probably is a bad influence on the kid...imagine had he not been caught what the kid would think was OK to do. 3) Not a Harley...realitically he should not lose his endorsmentlicense but rather be limited to ride a 250cc scooter going forward AND he should have to sell his bike and donate the monies to MSF.
