the straight stem is a PITA is all. re the 90 degree threaded stem, the stem should face the chain side or the PITA gets huge.
For what is's worth, the guy I talked to at Motorsickle Superstore was anything other than a pinhead. What a relief to converse in a similiar language.  I called to verify the tube stem type and ask about wide rubber bands. FYI almost no one stocks the 45mm rim bands. Most all are 23mm. Hardley rims have the spokes inline instead of offset it seems.
