Daughters BF called today, looks like I need a new tube as well. He had a straight tube, but no 90 degree in the shop (rear tire). I told him OK - but is there any issue filling the air with a straight tube on our bikes? Quote:
Thanks Al. Quote:
My ME880 arrived today from the Motorcycle Superstore. The code date is the 40th week of 2009, which seems pretty decent.
The last tire was closer to 170 out the door. Without a new tube. Now if I could source a 46mm rubber band.
God Bless 'Merica
Ordered a rear 880 and tube today. $156.98 delivered. For those that care, I only got 11,374. This time due to a cabinet screw not tread life. grrrr Vera Lynn gets a new rear skin. When she rolls with major friction, your low or flat...

Interesting, sounds like the Marathons have got a bit of a comeback going. I'm taking mine in for a ride to town today and will be watching Invictus. Sounds like a good movie and having been directed by the big man Clint, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Btw, they play proper Man footy down this way, not one with all the padding Before I take my speedie for it's run though I'll be pumping the front up to 38 psi and 40 for the rear. Am I getting close guys

the straight stem is a PITA is all. re the 90 degree threaded stem, the stem should face the chain side or the PITA gets huge.
For what is's worth, the guy I talked to at Motorsickle Superstore was anything other than a pinhead. What a relief to converse in a similiar language. I called to verify the tube stem type and ask about wide rubber bands. FYI almost no one stocks the 45mm rim bands. Most all are 23mm. Hardley rims have the spokes inline instead of offset it seems.

Re the 880's, I like em. Never any abnormal wet issues. Slip n slide? yeah when I enter gas stations too hot. imho the wet issues may be the domain of lasertechs. Of course when the roads are wet and when I lean, everything is ball bearings. When cornering, no throttle chops or hard roll ons, and if needed very controlled trail braking with very gentle apex release. But what's new eh? Those techniques are required when the roads are dry! Contact patches. gotta respect em. (or not see fast eddy's vid... )

Crap, he only had the straight tube on hand and it's mounted. I have a variety of air fill tips for my compressor, hopefully one will work OK. Quote:

Al, it's not so much the air tip as it is the access to the stem because it gets pretty tight back there. For what it's worth I have mine facing the disk and not the chain in hopes that a chain/chain guard disaster won't rip out the valve stem at the same time; admittedly a small comfort should that disaster actually occur. I suspect there's probably not a right or wrong direction. Moe's right side placement would actually be a bit easier to access with the bike on its side stand.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)
