After dumping my 2000 Daytona the week before Thanksgiving, I finally have it all back together and took it out for the first time last weekend. The nose fairing, right side fairing, and belly pan had the most damage: nose broken in two pieces with some other cracks, right side broken into three pieces, and the belly pan all busted up. Also had a hole in the clutch cover from a metal fairing clip, and the mirror and brake lever were broken off. I was able to repair most of it, and only ended up having to buy a new brake lever. I repaired and repainted the plastic in my garage, trying to match the color up to the tank and front fender (which were already silver). There's no more yellow, and I actually kind of miss the yellow color. I learned a lot from this project, and in the end I'm glad I tried the repairs instead of just stripping it naked like I thought about doing. Here's a couple of shots of it, still without the bally pan because I just haven't been able to get it to mount right yet. I'll keep fiddling with it, but will just secure the side fairings and run without it for now. It's not showroom shape, but it wasn't when I got it either...I'm satisfied with the results so far, and happy to get it out on the road again.

Will

Sounds like a lot of work. If you learned something, it was all worth it. Glad you're rolling again. Gool luck and ride safe.

I would never guess it had so much damage. Good job!

Good job, man. Yellow's pretty hard to shoot right so you made a wise choice.
