After allot of wife convincing and some self convincing I pulled the trigger on a new 2008 blue and silver Triumph Speedmaster. I got a great deal $8900 out the door and $750 to spend on accessory's. I got pipes, textile saddle bags, and a shop manual. As soon as I pick it up next Friday I am going to put some pics up I cant what. If any one in the area wants to meet I will be at Ed's Service in Hyde Park NY about 12:30 or 1:00.

ya but if I put on a fillter or better pipes I can rejet I can not remap. I would have to go 45mins to the dealer to have it remaped. Some times its the little things.

That's an elective operation. Careful! It's an addiction! You can't stop with pipes and filters.

Get out your maps now and work out the longest possible route home from the dealer. You will be glad you did! I have been on a lot of bikes in the last 50 some years and my America is the nicest riding by far.

I'm waiting to hear what you have to say. I just picked up an 07 America. First time Triumph owner here. The seller was very motivated and in need of cash so I got a great deal and the bike is loaded with extras. I just got title to it today and in the morning I will slap a plate on it and give it a spin.

Welcome Whirlybird.

Now the fun starts, first there is the great times you will have in the saddle.

Second, the hilarious time you will have here, the fountain of knowledge flows full and fast.

Third, the amount of cash you will need to spend at Fasteddy's and Brent's to make your ride your own.

Welcome and enjoy, you will not be dissappointed.

OK and now for the Story. I want to start by saying Ed's service in Hyde park NY is the best dealer of anything I have ever delt with, If you are in the area and in the market for a triumph call them.

The dealer is about a 3 hour drive so my father and me not wanting to be on the road all day decided we are going to leave at 8AM. No problem The ground was wet and the forecast was calling for showers so we pack my dust cover and a tarp some bungees and my bike tie downs ( the loop things that go on the bars). After a bout a hour and a half we were just south of Albany sun is out and is turning in to a great day. The roads are still salty so we talk about still covering it.

We arrive at the dealer it is in a strip mall kinda thing and parking sucked but I got my dads jeep and trailer parked and we go in. Well right in side the door is My new bike a beautiful blue and silver. ( pics tomorrow, more on that latter) I walk to the counter and tell him my name and that I here to pick up the bike. He goes and get Stacy (sales lady) she comes out and says oh you are early but I guess you are existed. I smiled trying to hide the fact the I was ready to burst with joy. We all talk for a little bit while she adjusted the saddle bags. My father loves to talk and was very taken-aback bye the quality of the triumph, they build like Harley an Assembly line around one bike, not a Assembly line of bikes kinda hard to explain. We fill out paper work and I bring the stock pipes out to the jeep and begin getting ready to leave. My father how is now eye balling the triumph America (same bike more chrome) ask me if I am going to ride it down the parking lot and back maybe 100 yards. I think what the heck and go down do a nice U-turn start back. I think I want to hear these pipes and grab a big hand full of throttle.

OK if anyone here has ever bought a new bike or even try to ride on a new tire they are slippery for the first couple miles. Ya I did know that did I think of that NO. The back end of the bike dances side ways a good 2 foot. My hart was in my stomik not even a mile on this bike and my dumb azz is going to lay it down. Well I kept it up and put it on the trailer. My father sed his sumac jumped just as bad too. The old guy who owns the deal sed that has happened many time with worse conclusions. We got it on a the trailer and had a great ride home. With the bike uncovered.

We stooped for gas ( 2 tanks of gas to get down and back I am so broke right now). But a guy filling next to us was in awe of it . Then at the toll both the guy sed that brings back memory's he had a 1968 thats when I relived this is going to be a long summer of telling people yes they still make triumph.

I cant give a good review yet but I road it 9 miles so far and I'm hooked. Its poring rain and I twitching wanting to ride. After my 500 mile oil change and I can really get in to it with no break in period. Then we will see what its got.

Chuck

P.S. I spelled check it but that is not fool prof

Get used to old dudes at gas stations telling you about the Triumph they had back in the day! Every single one of them has regret in their voice and envy in their eye. Give your tires a few hundred miles before you get crazy on them, especially when digging into the corners. Welcome to the elite!

There's a part in the classic movie, "It's a Wonderful Life", where the youthful George Bailey[Jimmy Stewart] says the three most exciting sounds a guy can hear are "train whistles, airplane motors and anchor chains".

Well, sorry George, but of course there are actually FOUR sounds that will stir a young man's soul more than any other out there.

And of course, THAT is the sound he hears the very first time he fires up and rides away from the dealership on his brand new motorcycle.

(congratulations Chuck...it's a grand feeling, ain't it?!)

I rode 20 miles today, its cold. But the bike rides great the only complaint I have is the suspension is hard I am hoping it will soften up with age.

Congrats. I just picked up an 07 with 5,600 miles on it. I thought the suspesion felt stiff, also. I guess that's just the way they ride. I'm not complaing, just stating a fact.

From your pictures, it looks like your shocks are set in the #3 position. Try dropping down to the #2 position. There are 5 positions with 5 being the shortest (stiffest). I can't imagine you would need to be less than the #2.
