can someone give some ideas for my pillion rider. Do I buy a touring seat for comfort or should I put a backrest on the bike instead and keep the stock seat?thus giving the pillion something to lean back on especially when riding distances.
In the mean time would like to wish ALL the folk on this web site a very Merry Christmas!!!!

Spider,

I think you will end up getting both (I did, although I have not and will not fit the sissybar until I absolutely need to e.g. on a longer 2-up journey).
The original SM seat is too uncomfortable for the pillion and once you get the touring seat you still end up needing the sissybar for the pillion to lean on (on longer journeys).

Yes I know, expensive advice.

The touring seat is the way to go, with the tall sissy bar. My wife wouldn't leave home without it. With the sissy bar the seat looks OK and with the touring seat the sissy bar looks OK.

I haven't done it, but, there's a couple of solutions that seem to please those who do;
1. Solo Seat w/ Corbin pillion
2. Touring seat
I think that by the time you buy the Solo and hardware to mount it and then buy the Corbin, you'll be way ahead with the Touring Seat. Going with the touring seat also gives you some flexibility to go from regular SM seat to Touring with minimal effort.

As for the backrest - For rider comfort and touring usefulness the tall is better. While you're buying, get the rack at the same time. Its cheaper in the long run than if you were to buy it later and it will certainly be a welcome addition once mounted.

Corbin solo seat is huge improvement & for two up add the corbin pillion, w/either height sissy bar. Their pillion made the difference for my wife from a hr ride max to all day ride confort. Can't enough about it...
