Im looking into getting Nology Profire high preformance ignition coils for my "02" america. Has anybody used these or something similar. And do they make a difference?

When I got them, I also got the hot wires and iridium plugs... seemed to be smoother on the highway...

Ditto. Very happy with the setup. I use the coils, wires, and Iridium plugs also, for several years.

For a couple hundred dollars, I like more then "Seems to"

Ok, I got them and immediately noticed a difference!! Man, I can do 120mph in 3rd gear!! They are also radar deflecting, so the cops don't stop me, and they give better fuel mileage, I am now getting 355 miles on a tank of gas! They also double as an alarm clock, and walk my dog when I am tired.
Bottom line is, if you believe what they are marketed as, better than stock, then buy them, I have them, and am happy.

Presuming your OEM coil/s are defective then yes, the Nology replacements would "make a difference"...however, presuming that the OEM coil/s are operating within spec, what performance difference would you reasonably expect to happen, & why?

I didn't expect it to give me 100 more hp and 355 mpg's or anything to those extremes. Just looking for a few extra hp so I can burn my tire off the rim!!

I know, I was just being a wiseass.  I know, right? Really, I thought I answered it the first time, but then somebody wanted more of an explanation.

If you want exact dyno numbers I'd suggest contacting Nology. I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone on here who'll spend the $140-ish dollars on a set then the extra cash on before and after dyno runs so they can sell you someone else's product. If you want an opinion, you've come to the right place, if you want concrete facts based on expensive testing, the manufacturer would be a better place to look.

I think many of us were suspecting that our stock coils were getting weaker over the years, and figured why not buy them a little early, and enjoy rather than wonder. Also, many of us had increased the fuel & air flow (pumping more thru the engine than originally) and we wanted to make sure we were indeed burning it all & completely.
Also, when some people suspected that arcing from the spark plug wires to the frame or coil might be damaging the ignitors, I asked the question on this forum, as to whether anyone using Knology coils or at least the Knology spark plug wires, ever had to replace the ignitor. Nobody said yes. I know that does not prove anything, but it doesn't hurt either. It may have had more to do with riding in the rain...who knows!

I recently solved a recurring issue by replacing both coils. Left stock coil was intermittent, but acted like a fuel issue when it was misfireing. Bought both Nology coils for about what I would have had to give for one stock coil, and immediately realized that that left coil had been a bigger problem than I thought, and for a longer period of time than I had thought. Independent bike repair shop, ordered the coils through Parts Unlimited - said they bolted right up, no mods. Our spark plug wires are of good construction, and the caps are easily replaced (already done). No reason to suspect/condemn ignitor. I led my repair shop to Brent's site, and he made me the same deal even though he would have marked it up some under normal circumstances (he has to make a living too). I have spent quite a bit with this shop over the last few years (mostly tires)and trust them explicitly, as they do me - they are not Triumph experts, but have more Bonnevilles and Americas and the like showing up there all the time - nobody from here that I know of. I speak of Cycle Sports on Clay Road, in Houston, Tx. Nology works for me!
