1) Red Mill Burgers in Seattle. They were rated one of the 20 burgers you have to eat before you die on the Travel Channel. 2) Dick's Drive In, Seattle. Freaking awesome. 3) In N' Out Burger - Double Double Animal Style, yum.

Two from memory, though they're long gone;
A few years back, a place in St. Augustine built a 1 lb.+ burger with fries and a dill pickle. Good, but not a particularly great burger, but if you finished it, you got a coupon for a free burger on your next visit. Until they wised up, they would give a coupon for a free burger if you finished the free burger. I had a lot of free lunches on that deal.
The apartyment I lived in during the Disco era had it's own nightclub. Hated the club, but on Friday nights until 8pm, they'd sell a 1 lb. burger with a beer for a buck. Saturday mornings, it was steak & eggs w/ a Bloody Mary or a Screwdriver for a buck. Saturday night was wet panty night, but that's another story.

I must say that I like going in McD's just to see what might have been had I have not gone to school.
If my mayonaise levels are dropping, I pop into the local KFC where I work to watch people with a very poor grasp of the English language balance a piece of chicken on a sea of mayonaise and browning lettuce. It's then a case of getting it back to the ambulance station and trying to re-assemble the edible version of jenga that I have just been served before consumption.
Personally I have found a great kebab van near my house that negates me ever having to go for a burger. Loads of "meat" not too greasy and lots of veg in it and the best part of all is it is cheap.
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

It wouldnt be a bad thing to have a listing of decent places on here, so when any of us are traveling, we look and see what is along our way.
So, that said, here are some good places for burgers...
Quad City area..
Hunters Club...Rock Island, IL they have long had a rep for good burgers
Pauper's Den...East Moline ( or is it Silvis ), IL.
Boozie's ...downtown Davenport, IA
Skello's ....Cambridge, IL
Cernos....Kewanee,IL ( the bar here is worth the visit, it was hand carved by Pabst, and there may only be 3 left )
The Barn...Atkinson, IL
TCs Point After....DeWitt, IA
Iowa City
Hamburg Inn #2 ....Iowa City, IA
Cedar Rapids, IA
Tic Toc....Cedar Rapids, IA
Oregon, IL
Jays Drive Inn...Oregon, IL
Peoria, IL area
Burger Barge....East Peoria, IL
Blue Moon....Batavia, IL ( Chicago suburb )
O'Briens Pub...Batavia, IL
Old Time Pub...Geneva, IL ( Chicago suburb )
Houlahans tavern....Waterman, IL
The Maid Rite restaurants are usually terrific, and the orignal old ones are great. In Cedar Falls, IA, its like going back in time.

Boone, NC. A place called Backyard burger. The first time in my life I ever ET a burger that tasted like I grilled myself.
Best chain here in NC is CookOut burger.
Worst burger, Smitty's grill in Asheboro, NC.

Although it's been decades since I ate a burger... nothing beat All-American Burger on Merrick Rd in Massapequa NY (Long Island) fresh cut fries and the Double double 2 meat 2 cheese.

It may not be the best - It certainly ain't the worst - And it could be the best burger for the price. If you are ever in downtown Sutersville, PA and are a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose or know someone who can sign you in, every Wednesday night is 'Moose Burger Night'(No they ain't moose meat). $1.00 gets you the standard fare, run of the mine burger that is quite palletable. $1.75 gets you the famous, or perhaps infamous 'Pauly Burger' - 2 half pound burgers separated by cheese, onions, some unidentified lettucy stuff, a center bun, and a pickel or two. This sucker has to be 6" high. Another $1.00 gets you a side of fries that could choke a horse, or, perhaps a moose. Drinks are dirt cheap and there ain't many purdy women folk to distract you from the task at hand. "BUUUURRRP!"

A 5 Guys has just opened here in town...Very Good Red Robin (i think thats whats its called) in Chattanooga...very Good. But the best Burger i ever had was from Dine-Away. A burger bar on the Great West Road, Hounslow (West London) it's not there anymore. We would always go down to Dine-Away on a friday night after a few pints of Fullers. The line would be out the door. As for the worst. No contest. A burger van outside of the Chelsea football ground. Boiled hamburgers. They were baaaad...and i don't mean that in a good way.

What used to be Ma's (if you're talking about the place on the east side of the highway at LaSal Junction), is a ghost town of a few buildings, but still accessible if you need to get out of the wind or rain. Had to wait out about an hour one time, but could only imagine what went on there at one time.

I'm with Gurdy. Whenever we're on Long Island we have to hit All American on Merrick Road in Massapequa. It's a ritual many Long Islanders perform whenever we get back for a visit...

Griffin Tavern, Flint Hill, VA - Excellent bacon cheesburger and fries (get the spicy wing sauce for the fries). Bikes only parking lot out back.
Buffalo Rose Saloon, Golden, CO - Very good cheesburger, killer onion rings. Outdoor patio with live band. Great atmosphere and very biker friendly.
'06 TBA - Black, AI and Snorkel removed, K&N Drop In, Gutted Stock Pipes, 145/42, 2 turns out.

That's the spot Bob!!
We used to ride the road east into the Paradox Valley, through Bedrock, Naturita on up towards Telluride, then south over Lizard Head Pass toward Dolores. Which had a bar/restaurant, with great food.
hmmmmm, Ghost Town?? I think Ma's changed the greasetrap once a year, whether it needed it or not. I'd like to get into that country again

I gotta agree with the All American in Massapqua LOOONg Eyeland. Lived there for 20 years and had many a burge there. Al's Frys in Burlington Vermont is also right up there. One night while working in Bushwick Brooklyn NYC I had to send a RMP {radio Motor Patrol} car to the 75th Pct to get some property. I asked the crew to stop by a White Castle in the area and bring back 5 dozen burgers, they also stopped in the 106th and picked up 3 cases of cold Heinikens and 8 dozen clams on the half shell.
Glory and praise.....the duty Captain shows up at 0345 during the festivities and sits down and inhales a few burgers, some clams and two beers. We fed the whole 1st platoon and everybody wanted to do it again soon. A very happy fella was that Captain. Good chow and a quiet nite in a craphouse precinct in 1983.
Kilroys in Vegas I believe has the best tasting burgers in town. I have lived here 15 years and theirs are the best. Fresh, fast and the beer batterd fries and beer makes for a very nice and inexpensive meal.
07 Speedmstr, Long Tors, bags, sissy bar and rack, windshield, engine bars, 2 ww lights, 2 fast eddy stickers and a .45 ACP.

Around here?
Best for atmosphere: David's Place in Colchester. Family owned joint. Been there as long as I can rmemeber. No indoor seating, just picnic tables.Always a lot of bikes and classic cars there.Moderate price and no fancy yuppie crap on the menue.
Best for food: Shady Glen in Manchester. Always packed. Indoor sit down eating.Place has been featured on local news for it's burgers a few times.
Worst; Any place that has a drive up window. Or any place that also has hummis on the menue.
The percentage you're paying is too high-priced
While you're living beyond all your means
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car
From the profit he's made on your dreams
