Nothing like a really good cheese burger. I just found a new place called Maddies in Salem, NH. Outstanding burger and fries. Worst is actually a place in Merrimack, MA called Skips Famous burgers. They make Mcdonalds look good. The burgers are the size of a silver dollar and greasy as all heck. What's your best and worst burger joint?

I don't know if the place even exists anymore, but there used to be a place called the Agoura Valley Inn on the frontage road by the 101 freeway. When Wayne Boatwright and his mrs owned it, cheese burgers all around and a pitcher of beer (or 2 or 3 or...) made a great lunch. The staff from the Easyriders offices used to go there occasionally.
The Rock Store on Mullholland Dr serves great breakfasts and burgers. Ed and Vern owned the place for longer than I can remember.

For me the worst is a three way tie, separated by time & space. Ma's Diner located in the red rock country midpoint between Moab & Monticello, UT was pretty greezie in the late 70's. Ma's is long gone. ACE hamburger in Mizzoula, MT during the 80's/90's was also a caution. ACE is also gone now. And some place I forget the name, between Wenatchee and Leavenworth, WA on the highway up & over Stephens Pass serves up proper stomach churning fare. I may have to give them a second chance at making it right this coming season. There is a strategically placed rest area, 20 miles up the road The "Best"?, that's like searching for the holy grail, always around the next bend. But you know it's out there jh

Cricket's in Melbourne, FL right off of A1A has my vote for best burger. Hard to tell the worst. The last couple of years I've had the uncanny ability of trying out some pretty crappy mom and pop joints. After a while they all kind of mesh together.

The grill in my back yard is the best!
The worst has to be white castle, not for the taste, but for the aftermath.

I have to agree with you, some of the tastiest burgers come from my own grill, too. Anyone grill a lot of bison? Man, it's delicious!

Don't get Bison out here but lotsa venison, that's my fav. I have had bison when I was out in Yellowstone and it's good too. As for worst, any fast food place like Indigestion King.

Now that I think about it the worst was probably the ones I used to get at the motorcross track. They were literally floating in grease, looked like they were being deep fried.

The Union Cafe here in Montrose. He makes 'em out of prime rib (or elk or bison, or yak). The big bonus is that he's in the same building as Black Canyon H-D , so I can park my America out front and watch all the folks going in and out of the Harley joint stopping to look at it.

the worst??? there are far to many to list here, but steak and shake comes to mind first. i dont know what it is that they put in their's but my body dont seem to want to retain it for more that about 5min hahahahahaha and the best?? other than at home on the grille?? maybe a place here in town called Cheeburger, Cheeburger or there is a watering hole called Jack's Bait that has a great burger but there is a place that comes to mind right off I-75 in Tennesee called Scotty's, kind of a white castle sorta greasy spoon kinda place and i just cant seem to get by the place without stopping,i dont know if they are really good burgers or if i am just hungry when i get there hahahahaha i think this place must be 40yrs old and i think they must be open 24-7 cuz i have never known them to be closed no matter what time i am passing. maybe Mikemm knows the place??? Sit's at the south end of 25 where you are forced to get on 75 and as a side note, if ever in that area i advise anyone to travel 25 instead of 75 its a really great road that will take you all the way to Cincinati and while on that road you can detour a little to Cumberland Falls and the road to the falls is great.....aint that right Mike?????
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Absolute Best around here- Buddy's in Beecher on Rt1. It's a seasonal place, ice cream, picnic tables, hot dogs, hamburgers. Awesome place to stop during or after a ride.
Worst is easy- Schoops. If the food doesn't kiil ya the bad service will.
I can always go for a hooter-burger loaded with everything.

Agreement on all accounts there, Zdenko!
And speakin' o' John...After readin' about his displeasure with that place named "Ma's" there in Moab...wouldn't ya think that at his age he'd have known that you NEVER eat at place named "Ma's", AND that you NEVER play poker with a guy named "POPS"???

With so many factors to consider who could pick just one? I guess it would depend on the mood I'm in.
For a good sit down type of hamburger place, Fudruckers would definitely get my vote
For somewhere in between sit down and fast food, 5 Guys. If you've never been to one I'd highly suggest looking into it, very simple menu, ample portions, cooked to order, excellent fires, pretty much, they do the basics perfectly.
As far as fast food is concerned I would have to break it up into risk factor...
For a low risk (with the exception of fat, calories, ect...) fast food burger I really like Burger King, their new angry whopper is really good, all their regular burgers a pretty tasty too. If I'm in in the mood to throw caution to the wind and put my own personal safety to chance, Jack in the box makes some great burgers, the sour dough jack is great, but then again so is the risk of food poisoning. Also if I'm in the mood for personal risk, and I now I'll get some disagreement on this choice, but white castle burgers are also really tasty. They're greasy as can be but tasty none the less.
My least favorite, McDonalds, you'd have to drag me to that place and even then you'd have to force a hamburger from there down my throat.
Let my dying thought be that every mile was fun and let my tombstone read,"They never made one fast enough for me."

In Vegas the best is Schoop's. Anywhere the worst is McD's I had a burger at Jack-in-the-Box in 1972 that made me violently ill (I'm sure that the liter of Jose had nothing to do with it ) haven't eaten at Jack's since.

My best burger ever was at the Bushmills Inn in Northern Ireland. My favorite regular burger is a local NJ place called Arthur's. We go a few times a month. The Royal Red Robin burger is excellent. I've been to 5 Guys a couple times, they're very good too! The absolute worst burger ever was at a fast food joint in Maynooth, Ireland after a night of drinking. The burger "snapped" when you bit into it, kind of like a hot dog with casing.

Best chain burger: In'n'Out (never had a fatburger, though) Best non-chain: York Bar, York, MT Worst chain burger around here is Dairy Queen or A&W. Far worst than Micky D's or Burger Kringe.

The Green Gables at Lake Bloomington, a hole-in-the-wall bar/restaurant/baitshop in Central IL. The best CBs in the world. Grill has been 'seasoning' for 70 years. Hard to beat when coupled with the traditional 16 oz. Bud draft. Also home to the only stuffed (as in taxidermied) carp known to exist.

That Ma's was 22 miles south of Moab at LaSal Jct, a favorite cafe'/fuel stop for the Uranium Ore truckers headed to the old Atlas mill in Moab, UT.
We had a Ma's here also, however it's gone through 3 name changes. Good burgers though. This thread has inspired me to take package of hamburger from the freezer.....

In Dallas it's Keller's. If you are riding through Dallas, this biker friendly burgers and beer drive-in is a must stop event. I think there are a couple of them here, but the one on Northwest Highway is where I go for cheeseburgers.
Not recommended: Any of the corporate burger places.

Jack's Old Fashioned Hamburger House. In Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. Nothin' fancy, just burgers and fries done right. The juke box selection was cut off at about 1966. Nothing like lunch while listening to "409", "Little Duece Coupe", or "Little GTO"

Gone now, but any of the old Bol Weavils in San Diego. Great huge burger, a huge tray of condom-mints (everything you could imagine for burger toppings), cold drafts and level pool tables. Ah, heaven! Umm, making me hungry now,
