Hi my name is chuck and I just bought a 08 speedmaster. I payed $8,962 out the door on a blue and silver. I got $750 in accessories which got me shorty TOR's and fabric sadlebags. I am going to try to get a shop manuel thrown in. When I start riding how soon is the first service going to be and how much? I need to start saving. Do I need to rejet for the pipes or anything and were can I get a better fillter for it?

Chuck

Welcome!
Your first service is at 500 miles...thats the one where you go from regular oil to synthetic and the bike starts to feel better.
After that its every 6000 miles per the Triumph manual. I do mine every 3000 cause thats the way I roll

You shouldnt have to rejet for the TORS but after you add an air filter you might need to. BTW...depending on where in the world you are your 08 may be EFI and therefore not have actual carbs in which case a rejet would actually be a remap.

Check out the tech vault...TONS fo stuff there.
Specific vendors are few but seem to be enough for us.
for aftermarket:
fasteddysports.com
newspeedmaster.com
for oem:
accesories - MADSS.com
parts - bikebandit.com

as well as plenty more in the tech vault.

Welcome to the "club"!

A member here told me when I purchased my Speedy and I figure I should pass the wisdom along.

At-a-boy kiddo you're gonna love it. That Speedy will carry you as far and as fast as you want to go. Even if you are a big boy. I'm 6'4" 300 lbs with 28kmiles on an 06 TBA (Triumph Bonneville America) 790cc with no complaints. Even when carrying a passenger. The longer I ride my bike, the better she runs and your speedy will serve you just as well.

Its more fun to be ridin'! I'm still ridin

Welcome to Triumph. Get used to people asking you about/complimenting your bike and completely ignoring any HD's you may be riding with! Most commonly you will hear "What year is that?" and "They still make those? "I used to have a Triumph back in 19.. great bike!"

Nope...I don't THINK so, Ian. I don't think that dude was ever "well-heeled" enough to ride a Triumph, big guy!!!

(if I remember my high school mythology, I think he had to SETTLE for a chariot made by some guy named Harleyus or Davidsonese or somethin')

I dunno, Dwight. In the Iliad he does appear to be quite a Triumphant warrior.

Yeah Thanassis, but ONLY until he got the back of his foot caught between that gearshift lever and the floorboards of that Harleyus or Davidsonese-built chariot he was riding!
And THEN the poor devil, as they say, "bit the dust"!!!

(or as Homer himself put it..."If only the stalworth hero have'th sense to search out the true meaning of Triumph, there'th lies his misfortune.")

Yes ... those heel shift thingies always get in the way, don't they?

Only because that heel couldn't stay out of Paris. Went to see the Arc de Triomphe (Triumph) when he missed that shift.
