I just had some put on my '07 SM today. I'm picking it up tomorrow. I'll be taking some pictures of it. I said crash bars at the shop, the dealer told me Triumph calls them "Engine protection bars" not "crash bars"

I was wanting to use them as a type of highway peg. If I keep jackin' around and try to flattrack my bike on gravel, I'll need them as crash bars!

I like the triangle version. It ties in the Triumph logo.

I have the triangular ones on Karens bike and the new ones on my bike.
The triangular ones seem to stick out a tad further but are hard to mount highway pegs to...and they are not obtrusive to teh rider.
The new ones stick out enough to offer protection in a lay down but not so far as to make it look like a freight train.

I like both!

I was thinking of not adding pegs and just resting my feet ON the bars.

I tried it. It is not comfortable, and make me feel / look goofier that normal.

Can you hold your legs up as high as the bottom of the tank? If thats comfortable then cool otherwise I dont think your going to get what you want.
Even with the new bars I didnt like the typical position. I mounted my pegs lower so I could stretch out. Ill add a pic later tonight so you can see.
Heres a link to my Flikr set when I had the Kury pegs on there: Accessories set

New pics here Bars w/ pegs ....both sets of pegs on the new bars.

Maybe someone can post some pics of pegs on the triangle bars for you as well.

that's the set up I plan on doing, out front and low. I still need to get the mounts and pegs for my bars, but probably won't be able to for a while

I'd like to see some pictures of pegs on the triangle bars, something to show the rider's position too. Putting your feet on top of the triangle bars is just too high for me and way too close to the pipes.

I have them on my 07 SM, I like the look; I consider them to be a "tank saver" in case of a tipover.

While having my BA serviced, I sat on a bike with the rounded crash bars w/foot pegs. Although the looks of the triangle crash bars are better, the practical side of me wants the rounded bars w/foot pegs.

Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Sorry to bring back an old post, but does anybody have the instructions on how to install the triangle dresser bars in the above post. I ordered a used set from ebay, but of course there was no instructions. It is obvious where they attach to, but it looks like you have to remove a main engine support bolt. It looks like you may have to support the engine in some way. Also, do you have to have longer bolts than the ones in the upper part of the frame where it attaches? Also, each of these bolts have a dot of green paint on them. What does that mean? Do they have Loctite or something like that on the threads?

Instructions are here: http://triumphinstructions.com
Search for part # A9758042

All you really need is the longer bolt. They will add some material at the main engine bolt so its a good idea to get one.
No, you don't need to support the engine, its still supported at the top.
The green dots are what Triumph marks bolts and such with after assembly, not to worry.

Thanks. I looked at the instructions. I really do not see any need of removing the foot controls. Would I have to get the longer bolt from triumph or could I just get one from Fastenal? just curious. Thanks for the fast response.

No need to remove foot controls at all.
Yes, you can go to Fastenal and get a longer bolt. Take your OEM one with you.
