That is a pretty cool intro, remember, just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Yep, pretty cool intro. It is good to see at least ONE positive comment on the economy. And although it was on a Harley site, it was at least generic enough to imply ALL bikers, even limey lovers like us.

Oh BOY! Do I now see yet ANOTHER new debate about the "true age" of modern Triumphs looming here, folks???!!!
(but...far me it from ME to bring THAT old "bone-of-contention" up again around here...OR EVEN to draw attention to this!)

I tried to post this in their little fill-in-the-blank form, but it says I'm using profanity and won't accept it:
I don't do fear. Over the last 106 years in the saddle I've seen TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES SURVIVE, but every time this country has come out stronger than before. Because BONNEVILLE AMERICA put distance between me and THE HARLEY LEMMINGS. Freedom and wind outlast hard times, and the rumble of my engine drowns out all the POSERS. If 106 years have proved one thing, it's that TRIUMPH CAME FIRST. So screw it, let's ride.

Heh, I had something similar ready, but when I posted it only the standard ad copy appeared. There are some pretty funny statements posted as well, worth the trouble to scroll through them.

No no, that was THEIR text. The text I added is in all CAPS. And their warning said "Screw it" was okay but "!@#$%" was not. I'm thinking Harley thinks TRIUMPH is a four letter word.

Well, ya know John it was probably all those uppercase letters that you used. Yep! Haven't you realized by now that "yelling" at folks like that is soooooo anti-social and tends to turn 'em off??? (...OR, of course, it could ALSO be that the use of "Dwightish" is FROWNED UPON at that Harley website, though I didn't see any overuse of the parenthetical phraseology in your above rejected communique, so maybe THAT wasn't it afterall, huh?!)

I don't do fear. Over the last 30 years in the saddle I've seen great bikes from England, but every time this country has come out stronger than before. Because my Trumpet will put distance between me and Harley riders with heavier bikes. Freedom and wind outlast hard times, and the rumble of a P-Twin drowns out all the marketing ploys to sell image. If my years have proved one thing, it's that I don't need to have the same thing. So screw it, let's ride. It wouldn't accept this either, with no mention of the actual brand.

Well, I don't know Dave. Ya see, I'm guessin' that those folks over there on that Harley website STILL might find the use of that "bold type" just a bit "jarring to their tender sensibilities", TOO!!!
(yep...I mean, you HAVE to realize that many of those Harley folks seem to PUT UP a "strong front" a lot of the time, but they're REALLY just big ol' pussycats when it comes right down to it, ya know!!!)

Actually, Triumph started manufacturing motorcycles in 1902 (107 years). The company actually started in 1883. HD started in 1903, but didnt produce their first bike until 1904 (and they only built and sold three bikes that year).

Slightly off-topic:
I've enjoyed repeatedly riding my America to the local indy HD shop to buy parts to repair my transmission oil leaking '95 FXDS...

Hey you semi-old retired trouble maker. I'll give up Triumphs 11 year absence of American sales when H-D gives up the years they installed bowling pins in their V-jugs....... ModelMaker

Okay now fess up, who put this one out there: "I don't do fear. Over the last 28 years in the saddle I've seen broken V-Twins littering the roads, but every time this country has come out stronger than before. Because working British bikes put distance between me and paunchy leather bois pushing their bikes. Freedom and wind outlast hard times, and the rumble of a Trumpet drowns out all the Harley Davidson marketing hype. If 28 years have proved one thing, it's that real men ride on British steel. So screw it, let's ride." -Brit Biker
