OK then... now done a bit of riding round town on the gel seat.
It is the same size as the 06 seat, so they must have made them slightly smaller at some point. It is very comfy, as I was sat in rush hour traffic for a while. And no vibrations at all.
Next test will be a long distance ride, but that will be a while away. Just easing myself back in to the riding thing.
