Wendy and I both have 04s, one a BA and the other a SM. Now I never rode Wendy's any really long distances but have done maybe 25 miles or so on it. I don't notice any difference in her seat compared to mine but they are both 04s and both bought at Hermy's. I wonder if batch or year might have something to do with any difference. I'll have to look more closely at our production dates. One batch of foam may be different than the next. Now that I just said that it dawned on me I got my seat new in 05 to replace my gunfighter. Can't compare that one since I rode my bike home and changed the seat that day. I haven't been on any others long enough to really compare.

I may upgrade to a Corbin solo on my '09 BA, with the backrest option. Any feedback on how this rest works out? I need a little more lower back support than the stock seat gives me.

I just got my Corbin and installed in on my '06 America. They sent the wrong bracket but I used the one off my old seat and it worked fine.

The seat itself is VERY firm but everyone says you will love it after 1,000 miles.

The back rest is, after the windshield, the best thing I have ever put on my bike. A friend and I rode 350 miles yesterday and although my butt was a little tender from the seat my back was just wonderful and I have a bad back. Without that back rest I would have been so stiff I could hardly bend over.

One thing: the Corbin sits about an inch further back and lower. I have some risers coming because my arms are fully extended to the point of stress. I'm 5'9 so a taller person may not have the problem.

Bottom line:Corbin seats are a lot of money and some people don't like them it's but worth it to me. I wish I had done it 3 years ago. I expect the real leather seat to breath better during the hot summer months than the standard vinyl.

hey Dick, the Corbins get better with age that's for sure. After a while you can just ride for miles and miles without any probs. The backrest is also a brilliant investment I believe, particularly if you have a bad back as I do.

I also found 2 further uses for the back rest. firstly I use it as a means of carrying one of my bags ie these Ventura bags.

All I have to do is lift the pack onto the backrest and the rear of sits on my fender rack.

The other beaut thing is, I use the backrest to hold my Shoei Multitec helmet. I just open up the helmet, place it over the backrest and then close the flip face down again. Perfect fit, and going nowhere. I also can lock it to the fender rack just using a padlock. Simple but quick and effective. Just a couple of tips if you're interested.
