Hey Brian, Those turn outs i got from Lowe's the are 1 1/2 abs (3 or 4 bucks for both)
I bought a (i think)1 3/4 radiator hose most expensive part from auto parts store and used that to couple the turn out to the carb and the original rubber couples the turn out to the filter, all are fastened with stainless radiator hose clamps...piece of cake to put together.
They dont really get in my way , my right leg touches slightly but with a shorter person it might be worse, Really for the $ and little time it takes to do this its worth a try.
