We, I've been throwing around the idea for quite a long time. I think I'd like a tat. I guy I work with has a HD tattoo and I show him a picture of the Low Brow Customs jacket with Triumph sewn onto the back (which I have one of). He thought it looked really neat, as do I, and thought it would be a cool tat. I think branded tattoos are pretty ballsy. What's some thought?

I have a "branded" tat, if that's what you call it, but it's for the Cardinals, baseball is my religion. Just make sure you really love what you get.

So tell us Leno...In order to keep up with the record of your beloved team lately, have you had to modify that Raiders logo on your arm to read..."Just LOSE, Baby!"

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Nevah! There's nothing wrong with the RAIDERS that an alien abduction of Al Davis wouldn't solve.

Tats are not for me, however, I've seen some that are down right cool. Is this your first tat? Playing the devil's advocate, it sounds like you are looking for comfirmation. If so, you should hold off on this venture. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just want you to think it through. Tat removal is expensive and painful. Also, tat regret is quite common.

Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

I've got ... er ... a couple of tatts
Just had possibly my last one done yesterday - until next time

I'm never sure about tatts with names / teams / brands etc.

My nephew does my tatts and once when I was there he was telling about a guy who was coming in for a cover-up.
To cover a girls name ... it was his FOURTH time!!!
WTF??
Some people take stoopid to another level.

Uhh , what if , God forbid , you and Triumph have , let's say , a parting . Then you get hooked up with , let's say , Harley . What then ?

It would be like having "Veronica" on your deltoid , yet hooked up with , let's say , "Megan" . Not cool , no .

Get a Sharpie .

I want to do my family coat of arms, that shouldn't change anytime soon.
As far as Triumph tattoos go, I think that would be a real cool one.

I have a couple of tats, one I've had for a long time and still love, a beaten and bloody Ragedy Ann head, and my current bands initials. I swore I would never do a band or name tattoo, but even my wife, said it has been such a long portion of my life that it was a reminder of that time period. All of the band got the same tattoo. I don't regret them at all. I'd get more, but I promised my mother I wouildn't until she died.

I say go for it. Even if you switch bike brands in the future, you will always remember how much you loved your Triumph.

This would be my first tatt. A little after I got married to my now ex-wife, she wanted to get eachother's names done. I asked her how stupid she thought I was! I also have wanted to get my family's coat of arms. I'm only 25, and I think I've had a chubby for Triumph's for about that long! Now, about the coat of arms, is it fair to change it sightly to fit your self? A guy I work with changed the elephant trunks to tusks. I thought about changing the flowers to flames in mine. And the helmet to '60's drag helmet. Thoughts?

I'm sure you can change it around a bit. I don't like the colors in mine, so I'm just going to do it black and white like Larkfarms'.

Justin,
That is pretty cool. I have to agree with the Friar (he hates that), reverse the colors. I don't have any tatoos, but lots of scars. They have much better stories. I have considered getting a Celtic Trinity Knot on my upper right arm in purple, red and blue (for reasons I am not allowed to discuss here). But the one you are thinking about is one I could live with, as long as a Triumph is parked at my home - which should be until I die.

So about your coat-of-arms. I actually studied heraldry some years back (yeah I'm odd). First thing is that they're not actually regulated in the US like they are in the UK, so you could do pretty much whatever. But to keep in the spirit of the traditions, here's the deal; the helmet above the shield is supposed to represent the social rank of the holder, i.e. knight, earl, duke, etc. Of course one could say the modern knight rides an iron steed so the motorcycle helmet would be extremely appropriate. The "flowers" around the shield represents the "mantle" which was worn over armor in the bearers colors to aid recognition on the battlefield (and help prevent swords from reaching the neck joint of armor), pretty much just extra decoration now. So you could let it represent your riding jacket (armor), though flames would look awesome and wouldn't really break tradition.

If you like it-do it! I have a few and plan on a more. Tats are like finger prints that you have something to say about. They say alot about who you are.
Be sure, be ready and be cool!
Good luck man.

Right on! Thank you. I have an uncle that has tracked the family way, way back. I've been asking him about our 'family crest' and he said we didn't really have one, just a coat of arms. He said he didn't know to much about that either. Thank you!!

So, I'm wanting the Triumph design in black and grey/silver and my version of my family's coat of arms. Now, placement. I thought I'd like either one across my shoulders. Maybe Triumph there and the coat of arms on the lower back?

Ah I can answer that too... technically a "crest" is a symbol used by the individual, and is located above the helmet displayed on top of the "coat of arms", which is the symbol of a family. So the eldest son of each generation will continue to have the same coat of arms, but each will have a different crest. Sometimes a family will also have a motto or cri de guerre (war cry) displayed on a banner under the shield, most commonly with the Scottish clans.
Today, the crest usually remains the same as the whole thing is passed down, because the "rules" have gotten archaic, except in the UK in the case of actual titled nobility, where the old rules are very much still in force.

And yes, I read all of Fleming's Bond books as a teen... got the heraldry bug from mom's research into family though. Let me tell you how hard it is to find a Prussian coat of arms from the 1400s...

I can't really comment on tatts as they are personal to people as finger prints and I'v always been too drunk, not drunk enough, too young, too skint or just too plain chicken to get one.

However the one thing that always cracks me up at work is when I go to pop an IV line into someone with tattoos and they pipe up "I don't like needles". So I always ask if their tatts are stick-ons.

Perhaps if I inserted the cannula in and out a thousand times a second it might help.

The worst thing I ever said when shooting for veins was "house" when it went in.

Given, it was during a cardiac arrest at a bingo hall I figured it was quite apt.

I don't think my crewmate appreciated it because she couldn't keep a straight face at a very sombre moment.
