Just got new issue of motorcycle Cruiser mag with "Baby Bagger Beatdown" test. Triumph America with Bags, Windscreen, Sissy bar and foot boards tested on a California rode trip matched to a - Honda Shadow Aero VT750C, H-D XL883L Sportster 883 Low, Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic LT and a Star V-Star 950 Tourer. Triumph tested as the winner - best 0-60, best on the twisties, best comfort in seat and reach to bars and foot controls. Biggest complaint was about the foot boards. Also got the most looks from others. Now they know why we like our bikes so much. Gary

Even stock a 865 parallel twin is going to perform a lot better than similar sized V-twins. As far as attention getter, no comparison at all. Glad to see Triumph getting some good press.

I've read a few comparison articles from that magazine where a Triumph was thrown into the mix. Triumph usually ends up at or near the top. I'd like to think these "experts" know what they're talking about.
2005 America, green/gray, gutted stock pipes, tall sissy bar w/ luggage rack, Saddleman's dual touring seat and Tourmaster saddlebags (and sissybar bag).

Ever read 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'? Even the unknowing can recognize what is good. Triumphs look right, sound right and feel right, even to those who never heard of them before.

Cool! It's about time someone did a comaprison test with one of our bikes and especially agianst a hd. I bet they would have loved it even more, if they used a Speedmaster instead of an America.

Soren, I was thinking the same thing as I was riding my speedy to work this morning taking the hairpin at 62+ on the up hill climb, going over the hill to the SF Bay from the coast. What a great way to start the day. Gary

Any chance you could scan it and post on here for us to read. I just went and bought the February issue of that mag but when i opened the hermetically sealed bag... no "baby bagger beatdown test" and it costs a perishing fortune over here

It is in the April Issue. It has a picture of the new Honda 2010 Fury "Chopper" on the cover. I'll see if I can scan it at work next Monday at least the text part.

I have the pdf of the article but someone will need to tell me how to attach it or otherwise get it into/onto a post. I tried a typical cut and past but no go. Gary

So...Im wondering HOW you mount the floorbaords with one higher than the other Overall a good article but the things they pick on about the bike make me wonder WTF Triumph was thinking?

I finally got around to reading it. Good article for the parts I could see clearly. I don't understand the bit on the floorboards, maybe incorrectly installed? That seems a little strange. I agree about the saddlebags and windshield though. Had they tested a 904 America, it would have dusted everything out there on the highway as well as the twisties! I love how he said the Triumph destroys winding roads.

I agree with you there but not for the same reason. I just have this feeling that based on the article we're about to have a flood of "newbies" who will all post separate threads that all start out the same...
"I'm in the market for a new bike and I just read this article in cruiser magazine. I don't know if you saw the article but before I head down to the Triumph dealership, I had a few questions for current America/Speedmaster owners..."
Let my dying thought be that every mile was fun and let my tombstone read,"They never made one fast enough for me."
