It's happened to mine twice. I didn't want to scrape it off with a blade in fear of scratching the chrome. I rubbed if off both times with acetone. The acetone will in no way hurt the chrome but will slowly dissolve (melt) the plastic. Use rubber gloves if you have 'em to protect your hands. Pour the acetone on the a rag and rub the plastic. Depending how thick the plastic is, it will take a while to dissolve. You don't have to rub hard, just keep applying until it is gone.
