Review (cont.) Okay, the extra baffle arrived and was a pretty quick job to fit to the existing exhausts (just insert and re-screw, mine needed to be tweaked a bit but nothing major). Fired it up and while the noise was cut down a little it was still at a fairly 'anti social' level. undeterred i removed the outer and new inner baffle and picked up some more packing material from my local dealership. I repacked the outer baffle (so it now sits snug in the pipe) and added packing to the inner baffle (so it also sits snug). Once inserted i had a sound that's significantly closer to 'sociable' (i'd say it's shaved 1/4 off the volume) whilst retaining most of the character of the pipes. (still over road legal limits but not by a crazy amount i think - thats a guess, i'm getting Db readers for all three levels done as soon as i can borrow the equipment). Anyhow, for those that missed it before... before http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-702279393289218027&hl=en-GBafter http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=726301699309166657&hl=en-GBand now repacked with extra baffle http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=5936837979848544730Still very happy with the exhausts, i suspect i'll continue tweaking them after i've ridden with them on for a week or two but they're certainly versatile.

they still sound really good repacked and with the additional baffle, but they sound deep and mean without it

standard issue on black 'americas, stops them going _too_ fast. I'm thinking of upgrading to a smaller plate to get 2 or 3 bhp out of it. going to continue experimenting with the pipes anyway and will record any progress i make. aiming to keep the really nice exhaust note but mute the volume - was going to experiment with a washer or some kind of butterfly valve. anyone else got any suggestions for tuning exhausts? (note :- i'm only persuing it out of a sense of dogged persistance not because it actually really needs it, the level of volume i've got right now is sensible enough)

well got my pipes off pete at trident today couldnt wait to fit them,i got into the garage and ripped the old ones off and proceeded to fit new ones all fitted in about 20mins,ive left the first baffle in the pipes as without there a wee bit to loud and the rozzers will be on me tail without a dought, but as they are they sound fantastic so i got me gear on and went for a blat around the village to see how many car alarms i could set off, quite a phew,so to cap it all off im over the moon with the pipes and the sound and thanx again pete first class geezer cheers steve

Hey Spider, do you have the AI still in your bike at all?
I still have mine and i've noticed the exhausts now have a slight yellow sheen where they connect to the downpipes. This is the exhausts themselves not the headers which are still shiny and silver.
I'm pretty sure stainless shouldn't discolour so i was wondering if it was anything to do with me still having my AI in?
thoughts?
suspect i shed some of the packing on the way to stratford upon avon and back though, became a little louder as i put some miles on it - still sound awesome though.

Ah, cool - i wasn't sure.
I assume removing the AI will slow this process some?
