The springer in the first shot looks like one of those $300 jobs. I was looking at doing it and looks like he did exactly what I had in mind. The big problem I ran into was our neck is about an inch longer between bearings than HD and thus every springer I found was an inch too short there. Looks like that bike has spacers on top of each outer leg for the top tree and then he probably machined a new shaft for the bearings. I thought about doing that but didn't know about that much stress on those spacers.
