I have 5 Triumph jackets, and 4 of them have all the Armor. The one jacket that doesn't I no longer use when riding. I don't even notice the armor, and never really have. All four jackets fit great and the armor has never limited my movement. So for me it isn't an issue.
The future of Armor in riding equipment might be evolving. A company called
d3o Protective Armor has developed s specially engineered material made with "intelligent molecules". These molecules flow with you as you move, but upon shock they lock together to absorb the impact energy. Obviously something like this will have many applications.
