Apparently the law in Texas state an illegal knife has a blade length of 5.5 inches or is a stilletto, sword, dirk etc.
According the article I read (it was on the internet, so it MUST be true) said the many states use poorly defined language in order to give police more room for interpretation when dealing with offenders.
