Not sure how I feel about this.....Brad Pitt is one of the new breed they dont have the history or the wildness of the older actors. Steve Mcqueen was an iconic figure. Brad Pitt ????? only time will tell does he have the cojones to carry it off.

I would have considered Daniel Craig for the job

I believe his entourage is in charge of cajones, as evidenced in the same link.

"BRAD PITT was left stranded in LA near Hollywood when the customised Harley-Davidson he was riding broke down.
But rather than call up a rescue service, reports say that the security vehicle that was following him sealed off the road around the bike and immediately whisked the star away, leaving the bike with one of his entourage by the side of the road, it was picked up later."

I am not sure the wildness is what is needed. Many of our best actors seem to have a few screws loose. Brad Pitt seems like a normal person with a lot of talent. His looks and talents make up for his lack of insecurity and unpredicable behaviors we long for in our celebrities.

Well, there IS one guy who I've thought not only looked A LOT like McQueen, but also thought was a pretty good darn actor since I watched him play the lead character Major Richard Winters in the TV series about WWII soldiers, "Band of Brothers". He also presently stars as a cop in the TV series "Life" on NBC. His name: Damian Lewis.

Check THIS out, and see what YOU think.....

(and Brad PITT playing this part???!!!...those morons in Hollywood never fail to surprise ya, now DO THEY???)

Dwight....I have to say....Lewis would be a good match. I just can see past his detective character on Life.

Dont discount Pitt yet...he may be new and he may be the it guy but he is a good actor adn has shown his ability to be vefrsatile.

I guess that's what I'm telling you, it's just an opinion after all.

Who agrees with me and who agrees with Dwight?? We'll let the peanut gallery make the call.

Well, that's a pretty good point, Z-man. Mr.Pitt IS a pretty good actor...for a "pretty boy".

However, THAT's just IT! McQueen was anything BUT a "pretty boy"!

I make it a policy to not agree with Dwight even if there is the remotest possibility of him being right so I gotta go with our miswestern gentleman Roadworthy. Not that I am not saying that Dwight isn't right, just that if maybe possibly he were right I still couldn't go with him even if that were the case. So whether Dwight is right (which we certainly know is not the case, but I digress), which I am not saying here, or not I think that Roadworthy has a much better chance of being right than Mr. Dwight being right. Awww, you know what I am trying to say....

Yeah! I know what you're tryin' to say here Keith, and I must say I think you're doing an "EXCELLENT" job of saying it here too.

And so, tell us....when did you decide to run for that congressional seat in your district, ANYWAY????

Well, thanks Dwight. Up here in these wonderful Illinois counties there are those of us that appreciate recognition whether we are in the right or maybe the NOT so right but think that we are right that it is the acknowledgment that we appreciate and not the rightness or not so rightness aspect of the aforementioned issue spoke of previously. So I truly do appreciate the acknowledgment that what I said was read and fully digested by this here constituency. And just in case I forgot, I want to say thanks!

Edit: grammar
Speaking of grammars, my grammar used to say that if you were right or if you weren't right that as long somebody knew about the rightness or not so rightness then everything was then alright. Alright?

Brad Spitt may be a good actor but every actor has their limits and playing McQueen would be too much of a reach. Kind of like Lindsay Lohan trying to play Mae West, just ain't got what it takes.

Wow, Lewis does really look like McQueen!

Hr does look a lot like him but does he have the cool factor Steve did? (Or Steven as he was billed in 1 movie and only that 1)

Well, no matter what the results of this unofficial official poll, I think we can all agree that no matter how talented or versatile of an actor Pitt is, there are better actors available to portray the legendary King of Cool. Besides, the only thing that Lewis guy shares in feature with McQueen is his chin. And like Ian said (sort of), the cool factor is heavy in Craig's favor. The dude is frikkin Bond, man!!

To be fair to Brad Pitt...he may be "pretty boy" but he's got talent and a really good acting range. He can do tough; check him out in Guy Ritchie's "Snatch". And he has that boyishness that McQueen had ("I gotta get my baseball!").

I do have to agree with that Damian Lewis thing...he does look quite a bit like him, and he did already portray a real-life person that was even tougher than Steve McQueen (MAJ Winters). Also a fine actor.

Daniel Craig might have a resemblance, but wasn't he the guy that suggested the next Bond film have a gay love scene? I'm not homophobic, but I'm not sure if I'd agree with having him play such a man's man (other than Bond, who after all is just fictional).

In the interest of acting ability, I think Denzel Washington would be the best choice.
He's proven his chops.

After reading the post of Brad Pitt's ahem ahem acting abilites I have to chime in here. Now granted every one has thier opinion and art is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to be in the camp that is not impressed with Mr. Pitt's acting abilities. The only reason I think he is an item is because of his looks and his old ladies looks. I have seen some of his movies, and looked with a unbiased eye, but I'm sorry I just don't think he is that good. I would like to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, because of the story line, but I'm afraid I am going to be let down, again.
