You know it is our tax dollars that paid for that.
Um, I'm gonna hafta respond to this one. When people say, "our tax dollars paid for that" they're generally implying that the taxpayers were "fleeced" or ripped off. Our profits paid for this abomination, and while said profits more than likely came from government contracts, there is no direct connection between the taxpayer and OCC. The taxpayers paid for the bomber, and the profit from that project (or countless other projects like the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan or the Joint Strike Fighter) went to many things, not the least of which was this chopper, but certainly weren't used for any kind of bonus for anyone working in the IT Division like me.
Not that I'm bitter or anything. I'm just happy to have a job in this economy.
No offense meant. But I have come to the conclusion that highly successful companies are tied to the government one way or another. They either have big contracts, work with someone who does, get favorable regulations, or now big bailouts (or all/some of the above).
PS My daughter works for Raytheon and we are very proud of her. I am not sure what a Raytheon chopper would look like. Maybe a raked out cruise missle in orange.
