As some of you know I have been having trouble with my America (starting, cutting out in the wet) and I have got some great help in the tech section. I was riding home from work the other day and the bike cut out again. I pushed it off the motorway and parked it up on the side of the roundabout (off the road) and proceeded to flatten the battery trying to get it started again (sometimes it does start again, if I WD40 it enough). I had to call the wife to come and get me, charged the battery overnight and went back this morning to try again. Pulled up in the car and b*gger me some f*cker has stolen the side panel! So yet again my, already fragile, faith in human nature takes another knock. Why would anyone do something like this? I mean what would anyone, except someone with an America, want with my side panel? And how could a biker nick off another biker? Went to Triumph and they want £63 plus VAT for a new one, £63!! Jeez. Time to trawl the internet for a second hand one I spose. Anyone want to buy an 05 America in need of a little tlc?

Some buggers out there.....I'd cut their hands off if I caught them!
Trawl away, but be warned they don't go on eBay that often, and when they do, they go for quite a bit... As there are not that many over here on the road, the bits don't come up that often, and so go for around 70% of the new price. And the new one doesn't come with the sticker either.....
Stick with it.... it can only get better! Once the bike settles down, you'll love it.

There's the real crime. The guy who stole your side panel knew it was wrong. But the factory, they think it's OK to rip you off. Grrrr...

Sorry to hear that. Some folks are just mean.
Also sorry to hear about the electrical issues. In a previous thread we had several deny these issues exist. I know they do and I certainly feel your pain. My 05 has been through CDI, coils, and 10 days at the shop for undetermined why it won't start issues.
Good luck.
Disconnect, clean, re-connect the coils and leads to the CDI. It doesn't have to be at the kickstand.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.
