Just got some bags with brackets and having a little trouble getting the brackets to go on the mounts. Do these need to be shimmed on some bikes? They came off an America so I am sure I'm missing something.

It seems the posts are slightly offset from one another and won't let the brackets slide on easily.

Are you using the mounts for the backrest.

Nope. You marked the baggies well! I was assuming the bags would just drop on, but right now to actually put them on I would have to knock them on with my palm, and that seems wrong. I don't really want to do that.

PS I wonder why the labels are upside down?

That's they way I put them on. Takes a little wiggling and palm slapping.

They slide on best with a little tilt (top towards bike, bottom of bag towards your legs).
The EBs have an angle in the design to move the bag away from the bike. If you try and slide them straight it'll bind.

You also need to make sure the key is in there and the lock is turned. They wont turn all the way, only away far enough to get on then lock the bag in place.

Okay. I think I may tweak the way the posts mount to make this more friendly. I don't want them loose, but it seems too tight to me.

I had a hard time getting mine off/on until I made an adjustment to the bolts holding the posts on- either tightened or loosened them until the bags went on smoothly. I don't know if it's recommended but I used loctite on the bolts.

Did you shim the rear posts? How much did you use?

Ahh, while my friend, Zmilin, clearly marked the baggies containing the mounting posts as, "no backrest" and "backrest", what he didn't do was put the parts in the correct bag!

No worries dude, I swapped the posts around and they fall right on.

I'll pop a picture up shortly.
