Unless Kawasaki is capitalizing this venture, I predict the Thunderbird will soon be a Vaporbird. The collapsing economy simply isn't going to support such an uncompetitive machine in sufficient volume.

Now, I know the History Channel has been broadcasting all that "Armageddon/Nostradamas/Aztec" nonsense all week, and they're sayin' it's gonna be "lights out for everybody" come December 21st, 2012, but GEEEEZ Jackson....I sure hope you're not buyin' into all that crap TOO!!!

But Jeez, just in case these guys are right, I have to seriously contemplate those final days, like, how many riding days left before the event?

Well Rich, if I recall rightly what that one "Nostradamas Expert" said in one of those episodes last week, when he took some of those sketches supposedly done by good ol' Nostie himself that showed an archer about to plunk an arrow into a woman, who supposedly represents The Universe in total, which evidently means that YOU'VE only got about 500 more riding days left before all that we know goes...Ka-POW!!!!

(but, I HAVE more than TWICE that amount of days left of riding before it's all over dude, because of course, I live in the SUN BELT!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Congratulations brother. I've been wanting a second ride from over a year now and the Thunderbird would be one of the picks. Colour me jealous.

If the party is gonna be over in 2012 maybe I should get me a T-bird too. I could get it on a 60 month note realy stick it to the banks and their bailouts.

go to daytona bike week and see one up close and personal like.

Quote:

Be one of the first customers in North America to see the all new Thunderbird! Triumph America has made special arrangements with the factory design department to fly a handful of prototype Thunderbirds over for Daytona Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Florida! These units are for display purposes only and will look exactly like the production bikes! Specially accessorized Thunderbirds will be available to show you how far you can go to make one your own!

Customers will be allowed up close and personal access to these display bikes. So if you need to see it for yourself; feel how comfortable it is to throw a leg over; and talk to the factory team about the features and accessories, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! Make plans to visit the factory demo truck at the Daytona International Speedway from February 27th through March 7th. The bikes will be on display at our factory demo truck located at 1801 International Speedway Blvd, Daytona Beach, Florida!

WHERE

Daytona Bike Week; Daytona Beach, Florida

Destination Daytona - 1647 North U.S. Highway 1; Ormond Beach, FL

Take your camera when you go to pick it up! The Tbird sounds like a nice bike, but it is not for me. I am determined that my next will have a good honest kickstart.

Not even sure pure dirtbikes have kick starts any more.
After reading the Cycle World article on the T-bird, it is starting to grow on me. I'd love to see one in person and heck, maybe even ride one. How many years do you think it might be till Triumph lets you do a demo ride on these things?

Hmmmmm...interesting. I suppose a kickstarter might be kind'a cool in a retro sort'a way alright, however MY biggest complaints with MY BA have always been that they should have made a factory big bore model with about one litre displacement and with AT LEAST 75 ponies at the rear wheel, AND those lousy friggin' cheap-a$$ SHOCKS with absolutely NO rebound damping that they put on these things which makes these babies WALLOW if you happen to hit a road irregularity midway through a twisty!

You see, with THOSE FACTORY OPTIONS, or say, a "sport or "S" model, these bikes would be PERFECT RIGHT OUT OF THE FRICKIN BOX!!!

(...with OR without a "quaint little" kickstarter!!!!)
