First, my apologies to everyone for not being here for awhile but my job is absolutely consuming me. Most days (all 7) consist of 14 hours at a minimum. Weekends are usually more. To give you an idea, I already have a little over 120 hours worked since the 1st. 2009 is shaping up to be a mirror image of last year and what do I hear at work? “You should be thankful you have a job†If this stupid economy wasn’t such a mess and I didn’t need to keep working, I’d have punched every one of those fools repeatedly and quit. As it stands, I cannot.
So what do my days consist of? Get up at 6:30am, get here by 7am. Work, work, work until 9:30-10pm, go home and fall asleep. Rinse and repeat. Every friggin day, every friggin week, every friggin month. But I sure am thankful I have a job…
Holidays? Yep, sure Phil. You can take Christmas day off. What did I do? I slept most of the day and got ready to go back the next day.
Riding? Hah! What is that? I rode maybe 250 miles in 2008 since this horsepoo started early in March of last year. The most I do now is ride a couple of miles every week (in the dark) to keep the batteries up and use up the gas.
Understandably, Janet is not happy about any of this but ever the trooper, she puts up with it. It is causing some strain and we work through it the best we can. One shining light in all this. We work in the same building so I get some home cooking for lunch and we get a little time together. These jackholes provide dinner (whooptee-friggin-doo) but I am SO friggin sick of takeout from the local restaurants. I’d like to stuff every friggin container (empty or full) down my management’s throats.
So how could these asshats make it any better? How about announcing that all pensions are frozen, no more 401k matching, and all salaries increases and bonuses are temporarily (yeah right) suspended. Yep, I sure am thankful I have a job…
So I am still alive if you want to call this a life and I really wish I had time to do anything except work. Supposedly, things should be back to ‘normal’ by summer but I am not holding my breath...
One last note. BA.com is not going anywhere.
Back to work.
