there were little if any problems in the rain with the first americas/speedys..only in 07 with the new non-venting fuel caps and no replacements available from Eddy/Brent did the issue come up..My 07 stalled once,I opened fuel cap and replaced but not tight(this allows air in as they are gravity fed carbs)and bike ran fine and continues to do so today..Now the 09 are fuel injected and should have no issues with rain/fuel starving!!
