I also ridden in serious rain with no problem. But, I did have both coils and the igniter replaced on warranty by my dealer after trying to figure out why one cylinder would cut out occasionally. Never did it again and that was 2 years and 9000 miles ago. I had a starter break (gear socket) but that also was repaired on my warranty which had ended 8 months before it happened.

Still, I've never owned a bike I would consider as reliable. Igniter problems are non-existent on later models and they redesigned the casing that held the starter gear in 2006 or so after finding a 2% failure on earlier models. I'll ride just about anywhere and as far as my butt can stand. I hope to have this bike for many years and miles to come.
