Rick, Rich, Chris, all three of you keep wanting answers from me, I get so confused sometimes...

Anyway, we'll see when the Thursday comes if I'll be able to roll out with you two.

Some of you northerners need to bring some cooler weather with you, this 100+ degree crap is getting old fast

<- those aren't tears, it's sweat stinging my eyes!

I agree, even riding is not real enjoyable, the heat from the road makes is not so much fun, we had 98 degree's with 110 heat index, and I would say close to 90% humidity

It's that bad here in St. Lou too. It's the sitting at stop lights that's a killer for me. The heat coming off the engine mixed with the hot and sticky air is

Really hope it cools down for the rally!

I guess if I had to choose between the "R" word, and the hotter weather, I would choose the heat for the rally. After scheming for a couple of months, I'm struggling to get the work schedule and the money availability to line up for that coming weekend. Oh well, as a local jobber was want to say around here, and I'm paraphrasing, "Somebody is going to have to PAY for my vacation, and it darn sure isn't going to be me!"

I'll take the heat over the "R" word as well. tested out the full face helmet and the mesh jacket today in the 95 degree heat...looks like I'm going back to the half helmet and t-shirt on days like this.

How many H-D's are going to be at the rally? I have a friend who may come up with me but doesn't want to be ridiculed for his bike But he's an actual rider, his Harley is dirty, rusty, lots of miles on it

No Harleys in my group, but I'm bringing a 650 V-Star rider and an 800 Boulevard rider if that helps ease your friend's mind.

Well guys, I was at 95, even 99% sure I was coming to this rally. The wild card came and kicked me square in the a$$ today. Took my kid to a Cardinals game, came out and my car was gone. Towed. Impounded. Fuk! So it cost me $255 freaking dollars to spring it from the pound. Bye bye rally money. Now, I don't know if I'll be able to recover that in the next week and a half to make it. So I guess right now I'm at 50/50. I will be there, or I won't. I'm really really upset about it. Not so much about the car getting towed or the fee to get it back or the slight hassle it was to get to the impound lot, but now I may be missing out on a trip that I was really looking forward to, and I feel like crap about that. What's a guy to do? I'll keep you all posted.

BTW, if anyone wants to sponsor my trip, let me know!

I had 4 tickets to the game, so I took a friend of mine, and my son took a friend of his. I don't have a hack on the bike, and even if I did, we all wouldn't have been on it!

I say leave the car in impound for another couple of weeks, come to the rally, and we'll devise a scheme to break into the impound lot and get your car out of there! You know, like they do in the movies!

Ok, maybe this is a little too ambitious. Well, hopefully you can find a way to make it. I got a parking ticket in chicago the other day for parking on the sidewalk at work. Been parking there for the past 3 years without incident, then some piece of crap gives me a ticket for $60! ******.

Well, I already got the car back yesterday and the money is gone. I was thinking about just jacking it from the impound lot, the gate was open and I had the key, but you know, they had the info with the police and all that, probably would have ended up costing me more than that had I just taken it. And yeah, part of the stinger is that this is a place I've parked many times with no incident. I would have much preferred a $60 ticket, even a $100 ticket would have been better than $255

I wanted to post some sort of itinerary for the weekend, but thinking about it, I only have 3 things planned.

Happy Hour Cruise, Friday 7/10 at 5:30 from Catfish Charlie's in the Dubuque yacht basin.
Mapquest
American Lady

Saturday, the big ride, from the hotel, to the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, IA, then through bellevue along the Mississippi to Savanna, IL and the Iron Horse Social Club, Back up to Stagecoach trail and into Galena. I'll try to find somewhere in or near Galena where we can all stop for dinner.
Ride Map (subject to minor changes)
National Motorcycle Museum
Iron Horse Social Club

And Sunday morning, a ride up the great river road (Iowa side) to Prarie Du Chien and back down the Wisconsin side. Can't find a good map, someone local will have to lead the way.

I'm guessing the hotel bar/deck will be the main meeting spot, until they either run us out of there, or we find somewhere better. Meals, well, I haven't given it much thought (surprising since i'm a fatass) but I'm thinking we will find something. Some locals may have to advise us here. Other than that it's just kind of whatever. All I know is it's going to be a blast, and I can't freakin' wait!

Ahh, ya' just gotta love life sometimes. Anyhow got myself into a little lack of two wheels bind right now. The new T'bird ain't in yet cuz I just had to have freaking ABS. Called the shop on it today and he thinks the ABS versions are on the assy line now. Unhappy camper. To top it off, I started pulling apart the America last night to get a headstart on the clutch job. Let me just say, be sure that that breather tube comes out nicely as the connecting pipe is made from partially solidified buble-gum and also cost $175 to replace. Also found that the shift assy shaft was bent, I am sure from previous incidents I have had on her. Well, I gots to replace that while I am in here. Well, $355 in parts later and hoping to get my parts by at least next Wednesday afternoon so I can wrench Wed. eve and ride Thur after work. One way or another I will be out there folks. It just may be that I will need to take an extra 2 wheels along with me for the ride.

livinginh, arstaran, and myself are heading up on Thursday. Livinginh and I will meet up near St. Louis and then we'll meet up with arstaran...

Anybody else along the way or heading up that wants to ride up in group????
Here's the place to speak up and I will put together a timed(approximate) route to galena. It's time to get those plans settled!!
