Great news Ed! Looking forward to meeting you guys. Did you decide to take the ferry across lake Michigan?

yes we are still looking at the ferry across lake Michigan...
there are 2 of them so far it look's like the SS BADGER is the one we mite take not only is it cheaper .. but both of my wife's grand father's help build the ship in the early 1950's ...so we though it would be cool to take that one...

I took that ferry a couple years ago... Take something to put under your kickstand, the gaps in the grates you will tie down to are just barely smaller than the pad of your stand. Made me nervous.

Ok, unless something major comes up, looks like Me and Dunnspeed are a for sure go. I will call and confirm for the room. Chris thought maybe he had someone else from the St Louis area coming and I am still working on getting Roadworthy to come too. So 2 more for sure and 2 maybe's

I will be heading acrossed Missouri to St Louis and Meet up with Dunnspeed then we will head north from there. So if anyone else is running the same path and want to ride along let me know.

I just took a ride up the river road to Prairie Du Chien and back. (had to go laugh at the prices in cabelas) Starting from Timmermans it's roughly a 130 mile round trip to ride up one side of the river and back down the other. There are several scenic overlooks to stop at, Pikes Peak State Park, and Balltown are two of the best. (both on the Iowa side looking towards Wisconsin)

Cool, maybe we can stop there on the way to Anamosa.

bigtexas suggested taking 61 south to D61 over to Cascade. Says it's a nice ride, and will keep us off the 4-lane for a while. If we go that way, we will probably have to skip Dyersville, and maybe go out there another day.

If we go to the Field of Dreams, we can still go from Dyersville to Anamosa using two-lane highways. I just meant that D61 is a better ride than 151 if we want to go directly from Dubuque to Anamosa.

54 to go

me and my wife... really don't want to go to... we understand many people will want to make this stop...
and understand that..
but this is something that does not really interest us..
not being jerks.. just being honest!!!

so please don't take it personal

we will just go back have a few and wait for you all to show up..

Hey, either way, if I'm that close, I'm going anyway, group or not. I understand about different interest and all, it won't hurt my feelings to not have it on the itinerary. That's somewhere I've been wanting to go for a long time, and have even considered a trip up there just to go. In all honesty, I may want to go by myself, it's kind of one of those special sacred places to me.

Hey Rich(Arstaren)...
Are you going? Earlier in this thread, you mentioned riding up with my bud Dave(Roadworthy)...i don't think he knows if he's going yet. If you want to hook up with me and rick(livinginh) give me a hollar and we'll all ride up together. We're going Thursday though so keep that in mind.

Well, I was gonna go up Friday, but I'm gonna consider going Thurs. The wife might want the extra vacation day. We are in the very southeast corner of Iowa, so it should be right in your path. We'll keep in touch and can confirm a week or so before the day.

Well Rich,
Let me know what you're gonna do about Thursday. It would be great if you could join us and we could all ride up together. I'm still working on getting another guy or two to get on board. Talk to you soon.

Chris, Thursday is a GO. We can plan the route anytime you're ready. It would be nice for Dave to confirm or no. If he's going, I've got a lead on an aftermarket rocket engine that I could install so he would'nt get too far ahead of us. Or the cheaper alternative, a two foot wide tail light, so's I can see it from where he'll leave me in the back!

You two think riding with Chris is going to be any easier? He's used to riding with me, so by default he already does 20 over the limit!

My wife wont be, wish she was but she wont ride with me, only on her own bike. And money has to tight to get another one for her just yet. Hoping maybe by mid-to-late summer we can swing it.
